its more important to live out good culture than keep bytchin on where the culture is dying

this is why i still roller skate JB style, go dancing at steppers sets, be active in church, go to a shop rather than somebody that does hair alone out their crib. not this artificial “i’m so blackity black” meta-culture and slam poetry and activism rallies n shyt. lil wholesome shyt like the above is my actual AA cultural heritage and somebody gotta keep the fire alive.

the number of people under 40-50 that be participating in such wholesome activity though……..its not looking good :sadcam:

Kendrick, Lupe Fiasco, and other rappers/entertainers are starting to publicly speak out about how destructive the culture had become. Its become beyond embarrassing

But Kendrick Lamar makes raps about how his boy killed somebody. Lupe Fiasco wishes he was Japanese. That's not any better representation when you got a hypocrite and a weirdo with multi-million dollar contracts. We live in reality. On our day to day we see regular folk just trying to live their lives. Why are we now using the most extraordinairy as an overall reflection of ourselves?

Blacks of America really don't have a proper culture to begin with. Rap, tattoos, Jordans and Street degeneracy worship isn't real culture. At least not anything that is approximating order and collective success.
Cocksucker who ever said it was? None of what you mentioned was mainstream until the 90s guess no black american culture pre dates that tho right🙄

Something that I found both amusing and irritating happened two Sundays ago. Was driving in a neighborhood and there were three little girls playing in the street. So I slowed down from about twenty feet away so they had time to see me and get on the sidewalk. They saw me coming, skipped to the sidewalk, and when I drove by them, they all started doing those silly ass dances like milly rocking and what not aong with one even shaking her hips like a video thot. The whole time they're looking at me in the car. Funny on one end, but disturbing how much they're influenced by what's on TV.

And yet the entire world copies and uses all elements of our culture to enrich theirs

You’re absolutely right. I didn’t even bother watching it. <Westworld>

You have to surround yourself with Black folks who don’t take their cues from media/social media.
A lot of our folks look to entertainers for examples, advice, etc.

I’ve gotten slack for saying I DGAF about celebs/entertainers. Why? Because I know/am connected to Black folks who are actually running shyt who have great lives and families. People who are surrounded by dysfunction, don’t have elders/community to guide them, have no drive for more see entertainers as aspirational. Those in control of society know this.

They don’t let Asian and White girls act “ratchet” even though they can get down with the best of them. Why? Because they don’t want those girls to be influenced to behave that way. There’s a reason why all of the popular Black singers/rappers are doing this shyt. Black folks hyped up strip club culture, the higher ups saw another way to promote degeneracy, and we ate it up.
Many of us base our standards on what’s popular in hiphop culture.

I blame Atlanta. And it started in hip hop when Atlanta took over. When people rang the alarm, nggas from the south got (get) mad so everybody stood down…ffwd now they run everything and influence everything. A city with a million strip clubs, feminized and/or gay men, and country ass dope boys…dictates black culture.

The moment I knew it was gonna be a problem was when women started going out of their way to say stuff like ‘I’m a doctor, I got 3 degrees, I’m classy… AND I love trap music’. Like that was mandatory for being black.

Black folk have reached charlton Heston ‘from my cold dead hands’ status when it comes to hood culture, it’s so embedded I see no way black folk will deviate from it

Ghetto ratchet behavior was always a thing
What seems to be recent is the mainstream acceptance and even celebration of that behavior
Social economic class levels in the black community have become blurry
Things that I would associate with “project chicks” 20 yrs ago are now the norm for professional black women with 80k in student loan debt

Pull out your tampon. I'm clearly talking about the way of things as they are at present (that's the context in which the OP is even broaching the subject).

And yet the entire world copies and uses all elements of our culture to enrich theirs

Expound.

Watch TV for an hour. Count every single time a non white person uses our slang, dresses like us, every time you hear our music being played, etc etc.

Take things that are seen as “black” and then watch how white people and others use it. They’ll see us doing something and shame us for it and then put it vogue and sell it for 300 million
