I agree with OP. I've never understood the hate. I actually prefer it over HHID. The first disc was incredible and the 2nd wasn't good but if you take the best 12 or 13 tracks you have a great album

I definitely liked HHID more, but SD right behind it.

If it was someone elses album it would be called a classic but because its Nas and he set the bar high on his previous 2-3 releases (Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, Gods Son) its was hard for him to follow up with a dope double album (dropping a double album aint ever easy). To me it's average at best...some good joints, some throwaways. IMO, it's his 2nd worst after Nastradamus.

But that says a lot about Nas' discography for an average album to be his 2nd worst.:salute:

I agree with everyone else that if he would have just made it one album with the 15 best tracks, it wouldn't get the hate it does. I fukked with it tho, and I wasn't even a big Nas fan at the time.

Love the fukk out that album. Everything on disc 1 was fire. From Message to the Feds, American way, Reason. Disc 2 was crazy as well. Suicide Bounce, War, Gettin Married all nice tracks. I think people were turned off because the second disc dealt with Kelis and that had a stigma to it. If people just listen to songs I think they would like em for what they are. But you know, Nas lost
