My mom just called me panicked, because the library is closed, and AARP isn’t doing taxes, and HR Block is closed.

I told her to do them online.

She was:

:damn:

“We don’t know how!”

:dahell:

I said they guide you through everything, and you just plug the numbers in. They don’t want to do it, and want me to help. They won’t even ATTEMPT! They even have tax professionals available for questions. She and my stepdad are at home like babies, as usual. They’re only 62!

When they got a new tv, who set it up? ME!

And the thing that really pisses me off is they live closer to my sister, and she and her husband could be doing this stuff! I don’t mind helping them out, but the fact they don’t even TRY is ridiculous. They don’t even have bank apps on their phones, and still use the bank to deposit checks.

Their keychains: full of store cards instead of using apps.

I’m going to go there and do it. They did give me this 3 bedroom home for free when they were excited about moving to the 55 plus development.

And no, they are not disabled, and are in perfect health.

mom barely knows how to text lmao

Yep and had ample time to learn. Been warning her for years that not knowing how to use a computer or smart phone is basically being illiterate in this era.

She had a flip phone until it snapped. Then she had the nerve to be mad when they stopped making them. But she got an iPhone, and was hyped to face time with my niece and nephew. She still doesn’t understand the concept of locations with WiFi, and uses up the data. My stepdad just keeps adding more data to the plan.

Yep I can relate my mom is this way they aren't trying to learn at this age I also work for Garmin in product support so I deal with this age group daily they only way they will mess with tech that they are not experienced with is if you hold they hands while they use it. Unfortunately that is just the way it is lol.

My parents are in their early 50s and thankfully are in touch with the important stuff (though, aren't like 25 year old tech bros of course).

My mom is addicted to social media though, which I don't think is good.

But I will say, I don't think that every last thing needs to be done the "modern" way. Some things are important and others are just a matter of preference.
