My dad is the worst. I got him a touch screen computer and he got heated because he was convinced he powered off the computer by pressing a random ass spot on the bezel and I told him that was impossible

My mom just called me panicked, because the library is closed, and AARP isn’t doing taxes, and HR Block is closed.

I told her to do them online.


She was:



“We don’t know how!”



I said they guide you through everything, and you just plug the numbers in. They don’t want to do it, and want me to help. They won’t even ATTEMPT! They even have tax professionals available for questions. She and my stepdad are at home like babies, as usual. They’re only 62!

When they got a new tv, who set it up? ME!

And the thing that really pisses me off is they live closer to my sister, and she and her husband could be doing this stuff! I don’t mind helping them out, but the fact they don’t even TRY is ridiculous. They don’t even have bank apps on their phones, and still use the bank to deposit checks.

Their keychains: full of store cards instead of using apps.

I’m going to go there and do it. They did give me this 3 bedroom home for free when they were excited about moving to the 55 plus development.

And no, they are not disabled, and are in perfect health.

Nah breh. Work in IT doing support. These muhfukkas don't know shyt. I'm only a few months in, but I can't wait til I can move the hell up. Some of the moments I've had-- in less than 4 months.... You wouldn't believe this is ALL ages too. If nothing else, it's helping calcify how rare and desperate these skills are.

Unfortunately yes. I bought my mom a laptop for her birthday years ago and she could barely turn it on. I eventually just took it for myself because it was sitting there collecting dust.

I tried to get her to cut the cord but she can barely operate a computer. I got tired of her calling me when a stream was down and since she doesn't know how to navigate stuff I just told her to keep cable.

my dad was resistant to texting until it got to where everyone he deals with started texting him. Then he had to adapt.





Also, he never hang the phone up after a conversation. He said, "it always just hangs up by itself" (ie in actuality the other person hangs up first). I'm like How do youexpect the phone to know when u r done talking??? When you were growing up with a regular phone, you had to get up and put the receiver back on the base to "hang up". Then later, you had to press the button on the cordless phone to hang it up. So if you don't hang up and the other person doesnt it's just gonna sit.

Why on earth do you think a cellphone can hangup on it's own?

How's the starting salary? I'm half way done with this Google technical support course on Coursera. How frustrating can the job be? Are you helping them with basic simplistic things? How easy or hard was it to get the job?

He was showing off this shiny samsung galaxy 9 he had bought on time
(To use the vernacular of my day)
Kept cracking jokes about my tracfone with a cracked screen...
I was like " let me see that Sampson (sic) phone " made the 'p' extra noticeable
He was making all kind of faces barely containing himself
"How can I make a call?" I did the like the world had passed me by
He was squirming around , I was about to ask if he liked internet chat lines but then his mama called him into the kitchen

A couple times a week i check to see what he's up to
He actually leads a boring life

When he came back, i was like "it beeped.. I hope i didn't break it"
So he is swyping a reply
And I am like "wow, you're fast.. When your mother asks me a question.. It's like I gotta hit the 9 button three times, then the 3 button twice, then the 7 button four times.. All of that just to say 'yes'.. Sometimes i give up and call her instead"

I don't even play games with young people and tech.
as young people boring as fukk, sheltered and homebodies.
if they start talking jazzy, trying to cap.
i easily hit them with the you need to stfu and find out who you talking to.
especially if they over twenty two and ain't did shyt not one time in their life.

It used to be faster to call and more secure.
I would still advise calling.
calling is still faster than loggin online.
logging online is actually slow and impractical.
