So I got about 4 notebooks of good music that I haven't recorded in a big ass Ralph Lauren bag..I plan to book a recording session soon but there's only one problem: I don't know much about being in the studio at all g:bryan: I got hella talent brehs..This is the thing I'm best at and I really wanna be able to say that I put on for my state one day. If any of y'all with studio experience could kinda school me that'd be dope. Reps and daps for the contribution

Do I just tell the engineer how I want everything to go as for as my vision for the record or do I need to know how to do some things myself??
Will my voice have a significant change in pitch?
You know, just any random info :yeshrug:

And I guess I'm lookin for a recording studio that specializes in Hip Hop idk homie like I said I don't know much about studios

yeah, just try to explain your vision to him. or better yet, bring in some music as a reference point.

do things yourself? like what?

unless you're purposely doing it for effect (like asap rocky or someone) why would your voice have a significant change in pitch? :what:

Well your voice sounds different on a record than it would if you're hearing yourself speak so I was just wondering if the studio would just amplify that effect

the engineer can guide you and give you an outsider's opinion. I would suggest memorize the song you want to record and rehearse it over and over until you can spit it effortlessly. that way you don't waste a lot time messing up and re-recording/punching in. Some people go in and lay the hook first then lay the verses 1 by 1 and let the engineer tie it all together on the mix down. Some do the opposite and go verses first and then hook. either way, best advice I can give is to have your shyt down packed that way you can be in and out. do you have the beat you want to rock over already or wanted to go and get a beat made in the studio?

I got all the beats already so I should be set plus I got everything down packed pretty much already but I didn't know I could pay to get beats made in the studio :lupe: On average, how much extra would that be?? I plan on finishing a 5 track tape (just to start out) in less than an hour..Is that realistic?

it differs, some studios have engineers who also produce, some have only strictly engineers so you would have to see what the studio you plan on going to offers. I know studios that charge say $40 an hour, you book a 2 hour session and the producer/engineer makes a beat with your input within 2 hours usually, sometimes faster, sometime more depending on the producer. It would probably be best for you to set up a studio tour of the place and ask all of your questions there; most studios do this for free, if not, just a book an hour and take a tour/do a Q&A with the engineer.

Yeah, I've seen people record songs in 30 minutes, but it takes a while to mix down sometimes, so i would say do a 2 hour session and give him an hour for your mixdowns per song.
