I been to major studios and if ur gonna record at one u better have ur shyt practiced to perfection cuz that equip is so sensitive it can pick up unheard feelings in ur music like if gotta shyt or a b9oger moving on your nosehair

dont waste ur cash practice at a small joint first

that little box he's playing with next to the laptop is an mbox, you NEED that for Pro Tools to work so bootlegging Pro Tools wont do shyt, even tho i have seen torrents with it available. but you can download decent enough programs like Audacity or even garageband if you have a mac and that will do until you get the money for a proper set up or really want to hit the studio.

I wasn't being serious about the Pro Tools but when my cousin was going through his rap phase I recorded him using Audacity. It's easy but the quality is poor.

actually that was old pro tools, any interface works now but you need the stupid ilok thing like some of the more expensive plugins.

Listen dude, you need to at least get a rough mix going, lay down something, anything at your crib before you go spending money on a studio real talk, you sound clueless about some things(and thats ok), if and when you go to the studio, find maybe a local producer.....there will be an engineer at the studio but an engineer is not a producer, in hip hop we get credit for making beats but the true purpose of the producer is to get the best "you" possible, what you think in certain situations might not be the best as far as a song goes, he is like the director and you are the actor, you can bounce ideas off of each other.

Im not sure of your budget, but like someone said if you are serious you could build your own little mini studio, it would involve some room treatment and other things though....

The difference would be that a good studio would have and should have a incredible microphones, the engineer, based on your tone of voice would then choose the best microphone to compliment you. His only job is to record your vocals cleanly and get the best sound. The recording process is the most important process, sometimes the recording engineer is the mixing engineer or sometimes they are different people.

Dont get ripped off, your record should be properly mixed, and a proper mix takes time, not 1 or 2 hours. At the very least I would say 8-12 hours.....and maybe even more depending on what the track is doing and effects used....

Anyway if you do lay down your stuff and dont have money for the mixing, you could send it to me for free, im currently going to school for it and am looking to gain as much experience as possible....

good luck friend.

:lolbron:

That's messed up, I suggest find guys with similar interests, friends with their own studio... if all else fails buy a mic, bootleg Pro Tools and get to work

Check this interview with Nipsey Hussle recording in his hotel room

Props on this vid g...and yeah I'm actually rappin with my homeboi who I taught to write..Since then he's seen significant improvement so :salute: to him. His brother got a small studio in his room with a $300 (or $3000?) mic but he's hella selfish and don't really believe in us like that to help. He said I'm good enough but my homeboy said that he doesn't take him serious enough.. I think I'll just stack my own cash and build up but idk how to work all that equipment :bryan:

the tri-state
great advice from @SparkMcGwire

heres some more advice;

1) as far as memorization, some people like me have a bad memory.

as long as you memorize the cadence and flow its ok to read off the paper.

ask tragedy khadafi, ghostface killah or nas.

2) delivery is as important as flow and content too.

you can say the same phrase 3 different ways and have 3 different reactions from people.

make sure you maximize the potential variables on delivery.

some words are better spaced apart and others are better jumbled.

3) though home studios are prevelant now, nothing beats a real profession studio. aside from the quality and expertise there is a great feeling associated with recording. its a good boost to morale/confidence if you incorporate that essence into the session. "im a boss"

4) i seen you were scared to post up lyrics or a song etc. you dont have to worry about that because as soon as you write something down (in a notebook) it automatically becomes copywrited. that is the law.
the original source material becomes the actual copyright and proves date of inception etc.

i think everything else was touched on, good luck.
