Truthfully, I haven't, but this is just done without any sense of self awareness or humor, it's played 100% straight, and in the wake of a movie like 'Cabin in the Woods' is rendered almost near parody. It doesn't follow the original, except the traces of the plot, and nods/scenes from it, my friend is a die hard 'Evil Dead' fan and he was having a nerd fit after the movie. It's a bad movie in general, and a terrible horror movie, just like 'Nightmare on El Street' and 'Friday The 13th' remakes.

Well the serious tone is more reminiscent of the original The Evil Dead...the irreverence and humor didn't really come into play until Evil Dead 2 (which is basically just a funny re-imagining of the first movie). And as a film this movie is taking its cues from the original The Evil Dead film it wouldn't really be going for irreverence or self-awareness. it wants to be a straightforward, balls to the wall horror movie and I felt it accomplished that goal.

I'm a heavy fan of the original trilogy, but that made me worried about this. Seeing the fans of the original say that it's pretty faithful...that gives me a lot more confidence to go check this out.

This combined both flicks into one movie which i thought was cool so no need for another remake, Man The ending to the original part 2 was on some empire and back to the future 2 sh1t

btw is sam raimi is dead serious about making another flick with bruce campbell this should be where they follow up on sort of how they told the story of evil dead 1 at the start of 2

if you have the special edition verson of army of darkness Yall think the movie wouldve been better if they threw that opening monologue with Ash that got scrapped with him saying "let me tell you about REAL evil!"

Sam Raimi recently said he's writing "Evil Dead 4" now. Well, they're calling it "Army of Darkness 2" so people don't get confused.

This shyt right here is gonna make a whole new generation interested in the mythology of the series. Also a lot of old heads are seeing this, Bruce Campbell has been popping up at random premieres and people go nuts when they see him.

They don't even need to make "Army of Darkness 2". They could just have Ash in this version of "Evil Dead 2". I guarantee people would be :krs: if Ash just pops up, even if it's for 5 minutes. Have him be the manager at the S-Mart where the next cast buys their supplies or something.

:snoop:

Cabin in the Woods was goofy nonsense.

This is a horror movie, and a very good one. If you're mad that its played straight instead of filled with self-referential characters talking about tropes as they're happening, that's no fault of the film. You're just not a fan of the genre.

I thought the "Dawn of the Dead" remake was cool but the intro up until the opening credits end is one of the GOAT sequences in movie history. shyt was incredible.
