To each his own, but the nikkas I named that I don't listen to( except Kanye) are trash to me. Drake, Big Sean and Kendrick are trash to me and are the reason why rap music is so stale now. Their part of the reason why I never listen to the radio. You dudes on this forum tend to hype anything up these days. Most of the coli thinks MCHG is a classic.. Really? :snoop:

The only rapper I named that Is on my IPhonethat I can see being labeled trash, is meek.

My iPhone consists of:Joe Budden, Slaughterhouse, Some Joell Ortiz mixtapes, Meek, MMG, Wale, Ross and Banks.

My iPhone is probably more listenable than most of the coli's. :yeshrug:

I dont fukk with MCHG. May i ask what makes Kendrick Trash and explain what makes a good rapper/Music to you?

Big Name rappers are trash in general but why confine yourself to listening to big name rappers. Thats where your problem starts. You will find Hip Hop is alive and well if your were willing to go on Youtube or search hip hop forums like these and take a chance on a rapper you have never heard before that you see mentioned somewhere. The radio seeks only to push the most ignorant and meaningless forms of this art

im probably more or at the least just as much as you into the underground. i know all the dope acts but this thread is about the mainstream acts being oddly more doo doo than usual and not even dropping anything listenable. big sean and wale and wayne and drake are so fukkin garbage. i support the good stuff (blu, blame one,ka,killah priest, roc marci, etc) but i guess i just for once want to see a big event in hip hop that pays off. Kanye is good for that and maybe nas. who else?

What other genre of music is exciting right now? Rap ain't in the best shape but it may be the only genre with real, earnest experimentation. Don't see what other genre, besides EDM, that is relevant.

And please, you say trap is killing the soul of trap but then list Ugly Mane? :stopitslime:

There is always good music out there, if you think it is bland, that is more indicative of your bland vanilla ass taste than anything else.

Indie has been killing it the past few years. Deerhunter, tame impala and all the other hipster shyt is dope (when given an unbiased listen)
Electronica has been way into the future with dope acts like flylo and crystal castles.

Lil ugly mane may have trap influence but it still lyrical and still good music which at the end of the day is all i look for. wakka flokka may be good for getting fukked up and partying but when the party stops... i want some real shyt.

and my ipod would embarrass yours breh.

Ya. theres always gonna be some solid underground stuff. But there isnt anything thats super original right now. The last underground artist that I thought really had some creative ideas was SGP. and he been fell off

Flylo and CC? This ain't 2008 plus Aphex and Dilla did everything all these beatmaker derivatives wish they had the talent to do.

Indie? If you like listening to college educated, rich white people sing from the perspective of existential whatever the fukk convoluted concept that cacs come up with cause they can't pull inspiration from their boring ass lives then so be it. All that hipster shyt existed decades before in better form.

WTF?

Future is safe? Young Thug is safe? Kevin Gates? Z Money? Yeezus? Danny Brown? Death Grips? B L A C K I E? Nicki? shyt even Keef is being friend weirdo right now. Doesn't mean its good but definitely pushing boundaries.

Yes
idk who the fukk that is, but probably.
Yes, singing + trap isnt some bold, left field formula
idk who that is
Kanye is an exception.
Id def say Danny Brown plays it safe. That weirdo rap stuff is the norm. And not much of it is actually that groundbreaking
I respect Death Grips... but they arent even really in the hip hop community. theyre more like punk
?
Did u just cite Nicki? U just lost all credibility man

Ok guy. If this were not even 3 years ago and any of those artist were being played to you, you'd be stuck as fukk, but since they have mainstream stay it negates how weird it was when it hit the scene, Thats cool. 07 Wayne wasn't weird either.

And you still can't name another genre that has been doing interesting stuff since 2000. Rap ain't what it use to be but it really is the only thing left in music. This ain't just happening in rap but to all music. There is definitely good rap if you know where to look and have a good ear. I can't help you with that though.
