As a rapper, dude brings really absolutely nothing...his draw was really always his style...and by style i don't mean his rapping style...i mean his fukking clothes and image and shyt...the first video he put out looked pretty cool, like some 90's shyt...he had a crew, he was drinking 40s and shyt...that was pretty neat...his beats were dope...but if you're listening to him for his rapping, than yeah that wasn't gonna last long long...using baseball terms, dude is a sub replacement-level rapper...I feel like the label was trying to make him this year's Wiz Khalifa...and it's ironic because Wiz has kinda started doing the same thing, where it just seems like he's sleep walking through verses lately...i enjoyed fukking Problem though....and his album may very well still be dope despite his rapping having nothing to do with it
I was saying the same thing when his videos first started dropping...people get attached to an image and it adds to their listening experience.
Its not something we are aware of most of the time...but its the same reason why you rarely see unattractive female performers...or why Thug/Flashy rap has always been so popular...everyone wants to be the star or the tough guy.

nikkas have retarded opinions when it comes to odd future tho

they have a dedicated fan base that won't go away. The thing is, tyler had the chance to become mainstream and change the direction hip hop was going in, but he made a mistake with goblin (album was medicore at best) and now the best they can hope for is that their core audience stays rocking with them cos they'll only be underground from now on. Their time to 'blow' has come and gone. As a group they just weren't good enough to back up the hype with their music, and because their music was so leftfield in comparison to the rest of mainstream hip hop, it needed to be A1 in order for them to solidify their spot in the mainstream....which is wasn't...so

Odd Future got a solid following and they sell out shows everywhere they go. They still in it due to Frank Ocean.

:comeon::comeon::comeon:

no they're not. Tbph, Frank may be bigger than odd future by himself. Odd future are in the position they are because of tyler and earl. More tyler

hit the nail on the head

i’m starting to feel like people like asap rocky who literally rap about the same thing every single time they get in front of a microphone are the ones who are failures as artists. when i hear asap rocky it just sounds like lil b minus the idiosyncracies, drake minus the hooks, odd future minus the gritty, messy humanity. he’s a walking, talking handshake, a business deal in the shape of a person, a compromise. a bunch of really exciting, inspirational decisions about aesthetics and positioning orbiting a void, a bunch of cool clothes draped around total emptiness, a black hole in space

fukking killed me :dead:

Can't judge an artist yet if his last project was strong as fukk and he's basically just dropped 2 street singles, Goldie was dope and fukking problems is more of a posse cut.
Let's see how the album sounds before we start talking about if he's "became" anything at all.

He's out building buzz now, collaborating with some popular artists, he's support act on Rihannas tour, doing all these hipster things and shyt like that.

dude is on a song with kendrick 2 chainz and fukking drake and it hasnt charted

even on that track, he spits essentially te same shyt we've heard from him

all that hot production cant save him...dude is missing something

It's #66 , there is no video and it's very explicit (60% of the bars would be censored and the hook would be censored), do they even play it on radio? Cause it's been top 5 on iTunes hiphop chart since it came out and a bunch of songs below it are all charter higher on the billboards. It's obviously just a street joint.

I ASAP fukked up signing with janky ass polo ground(even though he was probably already signed before his exposure like most artist these days) The way they handled that fukking problems track was ridiculous

The Opposite Of Elliott Wilson's Mohawk
Lyrically he is weak. His strength is the overall package. He is not good for a hot 16. I still expect his album to be bananas tho. He brings new sounds and flows to the game. Thats what im pretty sure labels signed him for. Cuz it damm sure aint his lyrical skills :heh:

How do you bring a new sound/flow spitting the same verse over and over again :dwillhuh:

See nikkas love to downplay the importance of technical progression but this is what you get
