Anyone Else Fell Down The Titanic Rabbit Hole Recently?

Obviously I’ve known about the Titanic forever but the whole recent situation about the Titan sub caused me to really look into the disaster. I learned a whole lot of new stuff over the past few days and this shyt is terrifying. Specifically about pressure. I thought a lot of the people died drowning but it looks like these people didn’t even have time to drown before they got crushed to death. Also we didn’t discover the ship underwater until around the 80s.

I’ve just been watching so many documentaries about this situation and looking up so many questions on Reddit. As someone who can’t swim and nearly drowned twice when I was younger this shyt is a nightmare.

And of course I had to check out the Titanic movie which they had on Amazon Prime. This shyt is one of the biggest movies of all time and I’m just now watching it. I’m about an hour in and it’s really good so far even though I know this ending is gonna be completely fukked up.

You’re an adult who has almost drowned twice in your childhood and know swimming is a survival skill. Why haven’t you taken time to learn how to swim? They got adult swim classes at the local public pool, YMCA and community colleges.

First and foremost, you HAVE to learn how to swim. They reach in 3ft water, so you’ll be fine. It’s a vital life skill, and if you have a kid, and the kid falls into water, the love of a parent will not magically teach you how to swim.

And yes, I went down the rabbit hole. We watched most of Titanic yesterday, and I’m looking up to documentaries now. My tik tok feed now has Titanic footage, and interviews with the survivors, including a woman who said she didn’t think it needed to be raised, or anyone should go down there because it’s her father’s grave.

The OceanGate jokes are up too, and I feel bad for laughing, but they’re hilarious.

Half of it did.

The part that hit the iceberg filled with water, and was full of water when it went down. The other end was up in the air, and and when it broke off, and went in, it did implode, which is why the footage always shows that one end.

Right before the movie came out, I used to rent the Nat Geo doc about Ballard and the Titanic a bunch when I was a kid and found it fascinating
