when in their cars with kids?

I can't do it bruhs. That shyt just don't seem right to me. To much nonsense, cursing and just overall dirt in those lyrics to subjecting them to children.

I mean there are a few songs that could pass, but on the regular I don't do it.

What kind of music do you dudes listen to when rolling with your kids? or nephews, nieces, kids you just kidnapped, etc?

I either let my daughter play her music...mostly pop radio type stuff that also plays some clean rap music.
or classic rock/funk/rnb type stuff.

on a side note: having your kids in the house singing those old classics does make me feel good though.

I play Future in the car with my daughter and she loves it.
I am not ashamed of culture. There is Rap music for every situation. Rap music is a part of African Oral Tradition.
Especially a boy, everything in a rap song is being a black man in america. Nothing to hide

:patrice:

no one is saying anyone should be ashamed of culture.
Blues, R&B, funk, etc are still black culture.

This just comes down to the lyrics in rap music that kids don't need to be hearing.
rapping itself is perfectly fine, again its the lyrical content that I have a problem with.(around kids)

I agree with OP but if you blast profanity in front your kids or use whatever language then thas your business

As much as people will say your hurting your kids etc it aint the be all end all

At the same time parents leave the radio on which is just as detrimental as your explicit playlist.

Just cuz they replace the word FCK with a woman moaning dont mean shyt.

In general when children sing songs made for adults no matter the genre its creepy imo.

Especially if the material is sexually suggestive. (rihanna beyonce meghan trainor lady gaga etc)

to me content means more than language. I've spent many years in the Army, and I swear alot. I swear sometimes just for the sake of it lol. my kids have heard it.

I'm not really ashamed of it, however I try to watch myself around them. Biggest thing is content though. I will never say anything that a kid doesn't need to hear. Content is key.

And I like to keep that way with the music they listen to, or the movies/tv shows, etc they watch.

They don't need to see all that oversexualization shyt thats out now. Or the glorification of drugs and sex.,etc

Modern-day urban radio is mental poison. I would rather my daughter hear whats on pop radio. Its waaaay cleaner and no references to lean, adderall, percs, xanax, etc. Other than that, i make sure my daughter hears old school music (Luther, Isley Bros, Stevie, etc). I want to instill in her an appreciation for music with soul and substance. Todays music is pure mental poison

My daughter is 8, son is 2...nothing but pop music or R&B. Y'all niccas can call me a C00n all day but I'd rather my kids listen to corny ass Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and Fallout Boy than hear the bullshyt on local hip hop stations.
