The quality of the music depended on the genre. Pop music in the 10s was definitely better than the 90s and 2000s.

can go on and on . These aint even hardcore EDC songs , but damn near everybody was riding that wave in their music

Early 2010s was awesome, that was senior year HS/freshman year college for me. 2013 was peak IG, anybody could eat like a famous nikka and it wasn’t about clout. That was also the blog music era. People were way more chill as far as fashion.

I personally loved 2010 - 2014 
The fashion scene was better imo. People were beginning to wear less baggy clothing and wear fitted clothing but didn't go too far with it like we do now. I loved wearing my polos and levi's.
Rap music became less serious and more centered around having fun (something we didn't appreciate at the time)
There was a general sense of hope for the future in most of the country
Although Cacs were acting like damn fools with Obama in office, there wasn't this much political division. The Tea Party was a mere annoyance compared to the destructiveness of Trumpism
People were less self centered and could still hold a conversation without looking at their phone
Social media wasn't as huge as it is now
People just were seemed friendlier and less uptight
People generally seemed less superficial and more down to earth
Something in the culture changed between 2015 - 2016 . I think its a combination of the wide spread use of social media and the rise of Trumpism and all the stupidity it brought about.
There is a overwhelming sense of alienation and nihilism that seems to be so pervasive in our society. I don't know anyone who has a positive outlook on the future in 2022

Skinny jeans were the norm in the 80’s. The 2010’s were basically a bad mix of rehashed 80’s and 90’s styles thrown together in a messy anachronistic fashion. There are no uniquely iconic 2010’s styles. Maybe those terrible crewneck sweatshirts with faux leather sleeves from 2013. Nah, not really. No one is going to try to recreate 2010 looks. Today’s styles are more unique because these designer brands are actually coming up with new sneaker designs, same with Yeezy... even though everyone basically dresses like Gangstalicious with man purses and shyt in the 2020’s era.
And no, music across the board was better in the 90’s. Including pop music.
Back in the 90’s, music was actually an industry because they needed to sell CD’s and tapes and they were worth every penny because the quality of music was infinitely better back then.

Come to think about it, in some ways you’re right because the 90’s did have some horrible, horrible pop music (i.e. Hanson “mbop”, Billy Ray Cyrus “Achy Brakey Heart”, Aqua “Barbie Girl”, all of the boy bands from the late 90’s, all of the cringey frosted tip having douche rock bands from the late 90’s like Limp Bizkit too).
But the difference is that the 2010’s best pop artists were heavily derivative of the best of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s music. Bruno Mars whole style is old school black radio. In the early 2010’s, Bruno Mars made Rite Aid background music before he started vulturing old school black music. The Weeknd is a bootleg Michael Jackson stylistically. Drake’s best moments saved the 2010’s pop music scene. There is no 2010’s pop artist who can hold a candle to Mariah Carey or even batshyt crazy 90’s Michael Jackson. Also, add to the fact that when Rap, R&B and Rock crossed over to the pop charts in the 90’s, it was always legendary. You can’t put Fetty Wap in the same category as Snoop in 92-94’.
I missed the early 2010s Tumblr style, the post-Obama optimism, the then-new electronic sound music had, indie/hipster culture, blog rap. 2010-2014 was middle school and the first half of high school for me, so I had some fun times along with some bad times. Going to city festivals were the highlight of my summers and hanging out at the skate park as well. I miss some of the fashion as well. It took a change in 2015 when Trump announced his candidacy and the culture took a massive and depressing downturn from there.
