Anyone else look at the early 2010’s with nostalgia now?

I wasn't really a big fan of that late 2000s/early 2010s edm craze, since I was in the midst of my "real hip hop" phase,

but recently I notice that anytime I hear that music I do get lil bit of nostalgia. Esp. Considering that Those were my highschool and college years.

I was messing with the deep house music that followed around 2013-2015

Skinny jeans were the norm in the 80’s. The 2010’s were basically a bad mix of rehashed 80’s and 90’s styles thrown together in a messy anachronistic fashion. There are no uniquely iconic 2010’s styles. Maybe those terrible crewneck sweatshirts with faux leather sleeves from 2013. Nah, not really. No one is going to try to recreate 2010 looks. Today’s styles are more unique because these designer brands are actually coming up with new sneaker designs, same with Yeezy... even though everyone basically dresses like Gangstalicious with man purses and shyt in the 2020’s era. :dame:

And no, music across the board was better in the 90’s. Including pop music. :unimpressed:Back in the 90’s, music was actually an industry because they needed to sell CD’s and tapes and they were worth every penny because the quality of music was infinitely better back then.

dont forget the baseball tees and Obey shirts :mjlol: Pink Dolphin too. Crooks and Castle. Had to have the camo cargo shorts too or you wasnt shyt lol

I missed the early 2010s Tumblr style, the post-Obama optimism, the then-new electronic sound music had, indie/hipster culture, blog rap. 2010-2014 was middle school and the first half of high school for me, so I had some fun times along with some bad times. Going to city festivals were the highlight of my summers and hanging out at the skate park as well. I miss some of the fashion as well. It took a change in 2015 when Trump announced his candidacy and the culture took a massive and depressing downturn from there.

summer?!

I am comfortable and I love you
I'm more nostalgic for 08-11 personally. No wild prices for shoes, no fukkin sneakers app needed to get some shyt you used to be able to run in foot locker and get on a random day and pay retail for. As far as music, I liked the very first blog shyt coming in 07/08 but I fukked with the later shyt like Lil B heavy too. I didn't fukk with any of that EDM/furry boot music at all, that stuff was wild corny.

When these mass shootings started to happen with frequency in 2012 shyt started feeling spooky and the decade kept getting darker with more violence, the rise of Trump and the alt-right.

I ain’t going to lie, with so much shyt going on now I kind of miss the early 2010’s (2010-2012). I was still in high school during that time and everything back then seemed less hectic.

1. Social media was less toxic and still in its infancy.

2. We had Obama in office and he was the last sane president we had.

3. My family was still cool and my mental health wasn’t bad.

4. I had way more friends. Nowadays it’s hard to fully trust anyone.

4 People went out and interacted with each other instead of being glued to their phones.

5. Xbox wasn’t trash.

6. Didn’t have to worry about Covid.

I know some of y’all experienced your early adulthood during the 80’s and 90’s and such and feel more nostalgic about that and that’s cool. I just wanted to reminisce for a bit. :yeshrug:
What’s weird is that even younger folks (Genzies)
Be like …I miss 2018 2019 :mjcry:

It’s not just us old heads

I see 22 years olds saying they miss 2018

Weird

Crooks and Castles was more considered drip in the late 2000’s. In like 07-08’, they didn’t sell Crooks everywhere and back then they had exclusive collabs with Mitchell and Ness and had fire premium varsity jackets. By the early 2010’s, Crooks, Hundreds and Stussy all became Zumiez brands were priced cheaper and mostly made t shirts. And people were wearing camo shorts heavy since about the mid 2000’s. The early 2010’s were innocent and corny. Suburban rappers who shot their own videos at the local skatepark ran the game.

And paying resale back then was paying like $20-50 over retail on eBay for dead stock rare heat from fellow sneaker heads back when being a sneaker head actually meant something. The only shoes that had high resale back then were Galaxy Foams and the more exclusive Lebrons... those same Lebrons have zero value today. Nobody except people who didn’t know the game paid inflated FlightClub resale prices... now they are the norm since cacs took over the shoe game.

And not just mass shootings went up... shootings in the hood went up in every city that rioted in 2020. That’s why Baltimore didn’t riot in 2020 because they broke a new murder record every year since the 2015 riots. Philly broke their all time murder record last year. Cacs pushing this narrative that mass shootings in suburbia ain’t okay... but when it happens in the hood, it’s just “your culture” and nothing to see here. :mjpls:
