Anyone else look at the early 2010’s with nostalgia now?

The world fukked up by not making two internets: one for adults and one for kids. Now that everyone having unfiltered access to social media, this is how it looks.

Got people on reddit, twitter, etc. unknowingly having a full-on discussion/argument with someone who was asking for homework help in a 9th grade english course the week before. Now everyone acting more like kids than ever.
I don’t know how they would implement it but off GP alone you’re right.

I ain’t going to lie, with so much shyt going on now I kind of miss the early 2010’s (2010-2012). I was still in high school during that time and everything back then seemed less hectic.

1. Social media was less toxic and still in its infancy.

2. We had Obama in office and he was the last sane president we had.

3. My family was still cool and my mental health wasn’t bad.

4. I had way more friends. Nowadays it’s hard to fully trust anyone.

4 People went out and interacted with each other instead of being glued to their phones.

5. Xbox wasn’t trash.

6. Didn’t have to worry about Covid.

I know some of y’all experienced your early adulthood during the 80’s and 90’s and such and feel more nostalgic about that and that’s cool. I just wanted to reminisce for a bit. :yeshrug:
Dont know about that one bruh

I'm more nostalgic for 08-11 personally. No wild prices for shoes, no fukkin sneakers app needed to get some shyt you used to be able to run in foot locker and get on a random day and pay retail for. As far as music, I liked the very first blog shyt coming in 07/08 but I fukked with the later shyt like Lil B heavy too. I didn't fukk with any of that EDM/furry boot music at all, that stuff was wild corny.

When these mass shootings started to happen with frequency in 2012 shyt started feeling spooky and the decade kept getting darker with more violence, the rise of Trump and the alt-right.

What shoes you need an app for :ohhh:

I have a lot of great memories from 2010-2012. That was junior high for me so it was the peak of everything. Of course, even back then, I knew certain things were shyt, but I wasn't as picky with what I watched or what I listened to. Summer actually felt like the summer. You could sit in your house all day, eat and drink whatever you wanted with no health concerns, staying up late was still an adventure, and you had no obligations to anything. As much as some of us didn't like school, it gave us a structure that you don't have when you're older. September felt like a new beginning, a new era. All the days blend into each other now and move faster. 2011-2012 is still one of the best years I ever had.

I have great memories from high school, but something definitely shifted in 2012-2013. It's like a light got turned off. You can even hear it in the music. The darkness was taking over. Then with police brutality taking center stage, and Trump rising to power, we were in a completely different world that carried over to now. The early 2010s and late 2010s are two completely different decades.

The carefree innocence meant people were turning more of a blind eye to things back then, which was a problem we got rid of, at least. You can't make another Jersey Shore. That was late 2000s/early 2010s culture at its finest. Unless you want to lose your job at MTV. Even something like Family Guy is nowhere near as outrageous as it was ten years ago. You can tell the writers had to adjust to the world we're in now.

Early 2010’s were aight. Certainly not a golden era like the 80’s or 90’s.

Pro’s:

- Blog era in rap. Rappers were underground and mainstream at the same time. Being able to entertain the masses while staying true to their core day one fanbase. Lil B, Curren$y and Wiz were in that lane. But blog era rap was trash compared to the 90’s or even 2000’s.

- Four Loko era. That was wild times. Blackout in a can before they change the formula when cac college kids started dying. Back before hard drug use became normalized.

- You didn’t have to wear $10k worth in clothes to be considered fly. You could wear all Polo or all basic mall brands like Aeropostale and American Eagle and be considered fresh. The sneaker game wasn’t gentrified and no one was paying more than $200 for shoes.

- The last of the club/bar days before social media killed it.

Cons:

- Great Recession was in full effect. It was hard to get a $10 an hour job even with a degree

- The culture was too 90’s nostalgia driven. Snapbacks. Foamposites in every color. There isn’t a definitive early 2010’s style aside from ugly ass Lebrons from back then.

- Music was meh compared to the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and even early 2000’s

- weed was still illegal as fukk and you could get caught up with a couple grams or less

Any era is better than this current trash era, but quality and vibe of life has been on a steady decline since Y2K
