This is nothing like reggae you’re ears are broken. Which example in my previous posts remotely sound like reggae
It FEELS. Not sounds.

It feels like it in that it should be this genre of music that binds the diaspora a bit and represents a sound of an era/time period in black pop culture and music.

When I hear old school reggae, it transports me to the 90s, with barbecues and family events.

I FEEL like afrobeats is kind of taking a similar energy but it doesn't hit me or connect with me as strongly.

That's what I meant. It sounds NOTHING like old school reggae.

It doesn’t feel like it because you’re understanding of the genre is out of wack. Most of these are club records. A club record can never feel like a cook out record. Completely different energy. This shyt was made for movement and dancing. Which leads into another problem entirely a lot of people don’t dance and can’t dance. Go through the examples I posted and choose one that feels like a cook out record. You can’t because they all have a club feeling too them

You were probably a kid in the 90’s though the feeling of nostalgia will never be the same.

It’s cool. It has its place, but it’s not something I listen to repeatedly outside of a party environment aside from a few major songs.

The thing I like most about Afrobeats is that it’s WORLDS better than trash ass Reggaeton :scust:

I like Afrobeats because it reminds me of late 80's and 90's dancehall music. Once dudes like Jamaica got blackballed from the industry they came in and took it to another level.

Im not surprised many on here don’t like Arobeats on here don’t because many of you don’t really interact with women, if it isn’t Wu-Tang you can’t vibe to it :russ:

Musically Afrobeats is on a different level to Reggaeton it’s almost an insult.
Breh, you're ignorant as hell. You assume people can't like a certain kind of music unless they interact with women and think of someone dislikes Afrobeats they must only like 90's hip hop or somethin? You're making total dumbass assumptions about an Internet stranger that you don't know and I can guarantee you that I know much more about music in general than you do.

"There's not a black music genre that I dislike" :mjlol: ok then hotep, have fun with your trash drill rap then?

And just to be clear, I really like that asake song you posted, but I ain't dappin it because you got a bad attitude

I wasn’t even trying to be disrespectful to you breh, just a flippant comment.

And why have people tried to turn Hotep into a bad thing as black peoples? I don’t get that.

I’m not even into afrobeats like that, but if it’s not for you, it’s not for you. Listen to something else. Nikkas need to write an entire op-Ed to announce things they don’t like? :mjlol:

It is disrespectful to me because I'm a musician and a music lover who can describe exactly what I like or dislike about certain songs and genres, and for you to pin my dislike on a genre on "not being pro black" or "not getting bytches" or "you only listen to baggy jeans wearing hip hop" (which is very :mjpls: in and of itself for someone who is pro black) just tells me what plane you're on and you're somehow triggered and offended that I dislike what you like. No idea why you'd take that personally breh.

And in this case, being a "hotep" is bad because you're taking it to the extreme and assuming anyone who doesn't like afrobeats is anti-black. I'm not claiming to like the shyt just to appease you and your feelings under the guise of being down for a cause :mjtf:
