Anyone else not really listen to rap anymore?

Rap music died a long time ago. I only listen to 90s and 2000s rap. Anything past 2011 ain't hitting my ears.

I personally wouldn't even call the trash coming out right now rap. It's some other art form. Offensive IMO to even group it with the music that came out in the 90s and 2000s.

I still listen sometimes just to see if the people I listened to years ago where still good but besides that naw. And I’m not hating I’m just saying there’s a lot of new shyt that’s trash, and a lot of old shyt I used to listen to aged terribly

This “a lot of the new shyt is trash” mentality is more about you than what’s avail in music.

I’m 38 years old and not connected to mainstream music at all but 38 spesh/ransom/Mach-Hommy/boldy James etc are dropping full length projects almost monthly I’m fukking with. If your music discovery is lacking, say that. But they’re something for everyone right now and we don’t even need to buy it to hear it

Newest shyt I been listening to this past few weeks been JID and Mozzy albums that they released this year. So I'm still always checking for new rap music.

But a lot of the drill/trap shyt has gotten real stale.

Yep, only because IMO the music isn't good. I mainly listen to projects from Legacy acts like Nas and Jeezy.



"God Did" is my favorite rap song that dropped this year and its a posse cut of old rappers (Wayne, Ross and Jay Z).

I don't have one rap song on my iPod. It's all R&B. Doesn't mean I wouldn't listen to it on the radio. It's just not something I'd want to repeat on the iPod.

Joey badass was probably the last new artist I got into and even now I'm more interested in his acting career than his music.

I think the whole music industry has gotten pretty stale in general. Around the same time I was listening to Joey badass I was digging into hiatus kaiyote. It feels like yesterday but the early 2010s was a long time ago. Even Kendrick Lamar is an old head now
