Circle of life. Before say 2002 Duke had the label of winning program but besides Grant Hill, no real NBA stars. I honestly believe Dean was a better judge of talent than Roy. Roy could have had Kyrie but already committed to Dexter Strickland. Stevie Wonder could have seen who was more talented. Other than Pierce, Roy really has no other realy good to great NBA players to his resume. Part of the problem is after UNC won the title in 09, Duke's assistants continued to get younger. That helped K in recruiting. Plus, let's be real, the main reason in the Duke recruiting dominance is the fact USA basketball has allowed K to do what no other coach in history for the US has done...be essentially a coach for life. One can not underestimate the effect this has had on their success since he became coach of the Olympic team. Duke had one decent black(or really even white) big during K's tenure. That was Sheldon"Landlord" Williams. Now bigs are flocking to Duke like no tomorrow. Laettner was more of a wing player to me. The NCAA investigation is also a huge albatross around the neck of UNC's program. Ingram publicly stated if it were not for the investigation, he would have been in Chapel Hill. All the above in concert has contributed to what you see now.

those personal problems are the only reason that UNC won that title in '09. If he doesn't get in trouble for drunk driving before the draft, he leaves early and UNC goes out in the 2nd round in' 09...so tarheels fans better not cry about ty drinking his career away since his addiction got them a title.

Once bum ass roy wore off the school spirit based perception and draw when he first took over for dean.
It was etched in stone NC would be bust central like Kansas was under wack huff ass roy.
Not to mention after Vince they all sucked regardless.
Harrison barnes is so much garbage..i feel pj Hairston should and would do better in his spot.

That is how trash NC is now that a d league guy from NC.
Would be better than a current starter in the NBA from the same school.
