No, no one stops me from anything. However my example is also a tragic event in US history but it does not get any acknowledgment as a such like a '9/11' or a 'Jewish Holocaust'. I'm so over 9/11 the boogeyman does not exist so I ponder why this event is still viable.

If you're over it then be over it, and let those who lost people in the event continue to remember it.
