Worked in a call center as a part-time tech support rep when I was in college. Was good to get the work experience but I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore. :whew:

If I ever get laid off my current job (SysAdmin basically), call center/tech support would be an absolute last resort. Like, it'd have to be a situation where my unemployment ran out and I'm not sure how I'll pay rent before I'd take that job again. Especially being older now.

LOL you on point with NYC people. You've been lucky to not have to deal with Floridians. Some of them have the technical aptitude of a pre-schooler.

Women are always the nicest to me. I can generally calm them down in stressful situations. It is some middle aged white men who are the worst for me. They are self-entitled and really do believe they know it all.
I had calls from all over. Those were just the people that stuck out the most. Yea white men were jack fukkin asses too. I don't have the personality to deal with call center crap.

My muthafukkin self
It's called having different personalities. Some people can deal with being cursed out and let it roll right off of their backs while another person might want to whip your ass. My work from home stressed me out because of the metrics we had to maintain

I agree with, but if you can't handle dealing with customers in that environment, you shouldn't be working at a call center to begin with.

When callers used to try to jump fly I'd simply verify their address for them in my real voice on some passive-aggressive shyt like "oh yeah? Well you still live at ---- Elm Street right? RIGHT?! Ok then, lets try this again..."

I hated that job. I would be on the phone, and my manager would be critiquing my calls while I was still on the phone:why:

I had that jobs for 2-3 weeks. Once I got another one, I was gooooonnnneeee:cape:

call centers you basically have to not give a fukk about what they say and not take shyt personal. clients are filled with misery. don't let that shyt infect you.

what i don't like about it is that it turns you into a passive aggressive bytch over time if you don't check yourself...

Do your research! What is the retention rate? Is everyone in the office :flabbynsick:. These are signs brother.
During my orientation I had many signs. Me and the other guys who I was in orientation with would often laugh at how almost everyone in the office seemed miserable, overweight and just generally unhealthy looking. We saw the Business Skype picture of my team lead when he first started and were all equally horrified and concerned. He was healthy looking young man, vibrant and full of life, and now he's obese and balding. AND he's only work here for 2 years. 2 YEARS! :bryan:

According to most people who've worked in call centers there is a burnout phase. If you have a high tolerance for bullshyt then go ahead. My burnout phase has arrived and I'm working my way out of here

The job pays more than what I make now. I'll do it for the love of $. It's 5 more than what I'm making now and its for a cable company so i would get free service. Opens up alot of room for me to stack some cash to make moves with

I don't wanna look :flabbynsick: though I just started going to the gym and losing weight I'm trying to get back in shape :sadcam:
