I think Chantix and other meds designed to help people quick work by becoming a replacement of sorts for nicotine delivery. I remember I smoked for years and then switched to Snus. I did snus for a couple of years and I kid you not...one day I simply woke up and decided I didn't need snus nor cigarettes again. And that was simply that. I swear I didn't even experience any withdrawals. I occasionally sit down and wonder what mechanism in my mind allowed it to be so easy that time after failing other times. Was it because the Snus allowed a higher and constant amount of nicotine into my bloodstream and it desensitized my system from it? If you left it in your mouth while you slept you would have crazy dreams. Not only were they vivid, they would be about the wildest situations. I remember one that has stayed with me.
Jesus was standing next to my bed holding an egg that had tentacles breaking out of it. I wasn't even scared....it was the most natural thing in the world as far my dream self was concerned.
I don't even think Snus is still sold in the states. It had been big overseas for centuries before it hit the states. It was supposed to be safer(I know I know) and it probably was(I know I know but all these nicotine delivery methods have varying degrees of safety keep it 100). Even though I'm not quite sure how it worked, I'm glad I started fooling around with it, because I likely wouldn't have quit smoking without it. I don't recommend it to anyone though. It was a substitution for a stronger delivery that somehow led to full blown quitting altogether. Probably isolated as hell.
.....the taste of food and the smells after you drop those cigs though.....
