I see what you're saying, but it doesn't really apply to me.
Yea, I've been giving my accounts EMV compliant terminals for a minute now. The ones that haven't are just going to have to get with the times.
As far as competition, I practice business/corporate law, so a lot of my merchant accounts are businesses who I already have a preexisting relationship with on the law side, so they're loyal. Also I'm an ISO of First Data/Wells Fargo, so I typically offer lower rates than just some sales dude walking in their business trying to solicit them. A lot of it is just building rapport and providing service to where they won't want to go through the hassle of switching even if it's going to save them some money. That's really what I try to concentrate on.
I have agents all across the country who all do really well, and I'd like to think it's because we train them on exactly that. It's about more than the pricing. If that's all you have to offer a merchant, then you're fukked, because someone else can always come in and be willing to give them a lower rate just to add another drop in the bucket.
Isn't everyone an ISO of first data?
I work for an investment bank and that's one of our ancillary services. It seems odd to me a lawyer doing it though. Dont let our partners around your clients this guy there could sell ice to an eskimo.

but I'm building a little buzz in the city
