Anyone Here Learn A New Language As An Adult?

I'm trying to learn Spanish this year, or at least SOME Spanish this year. Hopefully later in the year I'll be able to head to some Spanish speaking country, but until then I'm trying to learn as much as I can on my own. I work with a lot of Mexicans so maybe I'll learn something by osmosis

Anyway, who here got tips?

I would like to learn French. I took it two years in high school but wasn't too serious. I could somewhat read some basic things but not much. I should be able to understand Italian but have never spoke to an Italian. My parents went to Italy back in September and had barely any issues speaking there. Of course, I can speak any language with Google translate.

Portuguese shouldnt be too hard since Spanish is my first language.

make sure you get the accent right creh. spanish speakers using portuguese words and not shifting vowels is annoying

you going for brazilian or continental? in europe the accent has more obvious spanish connections and they swallow consonants like french speakers

Then I found a Michel Thomas spanish set on torrents, shyt was the truth son, got me right into the basics and EXPLAINS the differences when coming from the english language. After that the best thing I started doin was chattin with my homegirls from panama in spanish on whatsapp and shyt, with google translate to back me up.

Now Im about 90% fluent in it my g. Feel good as hell.

I'm using it right now... I have holes that I need to cover up and get use to thinking/speaking in Spanish so I won't be so nervous when I attempt to speak and fumble my words. My grammar is pretty good. Do you have any more advice to offer?

Find someone that speaks english and spanish and practice having normal conversations with them. I had a few bros that spoke both so we would just talk about random shyt in spanish and they would correct me, since they were my friends I wasnt afraid to fukk up. Whatever you dont know just say it in english.
Im still learning and I find words I dont know every day, but google translate and google in general has been my friend for real. But dont use it for long phrases, google is better for a couple of words or just getting the jist of what is tryna be said.
