Yea most will hire a lot to get watever drug they are manufacturing off the ground, which takes a lot of man hours. I worked for a cro in the Lab and some days were 18 hour days. They usually don’t pay enough to excuse that kind of time away from your actual life

I don't think I wanna work in the lab or as they say the bench. Something like regulatory affairs would be of interest. Preparing documents. That's something I wouldnt mind doing.

Was in pharma/med sales for years, made min $120k each year...Good money, good connections. I worked with a lot of ex-NFL and ex-NBA players and motivated people how saved up to become entrepreneurs...some get stuck working for corporate forever.

I hated corporate life tho...I was always just a # on screen to them

still in med sales but more in a consultancy capacity...too much money to just hop out that game.

Wow, the stress just seems like too much. how long did it take you to find your niche when it came to selling. Or did you hit the ground running?

honestly it wasn’t very stressful, it’s outside sales so you do all your own scheduling and set your own appointments. The HQ was out of state and the managers were always out of state so I was almost always on my own.

I worked in real estate sales right out of college, I was young and awkward and kinda got thrown to the wolves and had to just become more personable and outgoing.

some ppl I worked with looked out for me and suggested to get into med sales for a higher base salary (I was working for a tiny base + commission for the real estate developer).

I had sales experience but nothing in the medical space so I was just applying every where and finally a place was willing to take a chance. By chance I looked up the hiring manager on linked in and found out that he worked with one of my best friends at a previous job and that absolutely helped get me hired. My territory was a complete expansion so I built it from the floor up to one of the top performing territories in the nation.

sales is very easy imo you’re kind of just building relationships and keeping ppl happy and turning aggressive when the time is right.

sales side should be outside sales which will provide a lot of freedom and chances to work remotely.

breh I had it down pat to where I was just working off my phone texting my docs, about 90% of my biz came from 5 accounts. I would be at the crib day trading or at the gym or whatever. I’d say I worked ~15-20 hours/week once I got the accounts up and running...took about 18 mos. to do that

I friend of mine has a bio grad degree and just took a job in some sort of lab capacity making $300k and she’s 26-27. If that’s an option...def take it

These biotech / pharma company’s do pay crazy. I don’t get shyt but the pay discrepancy between departments/ positions makes no sense .

I’ll grill her about it...some sort of clinical director of the company’s lab or something. She’s a legit scientist with a post graduate degree so I’m not surprised she was offered something in the 6 figures range.

i’ll holla at her and let you know breh. If you haven’t you should max out your LinkedIn, with a professional pic, updated work experience etc, I go on there and just add recruiters and ppl and send out messages and I’ve found opportunities just doing that.

I will say being in the bench is the best start I’m more valuable because i know things other scientists in my dept don’t just because they never did the hands on.

Thanks breh been working on my LinkedIn this weekend, can you as her about career paths that pay? Been thinking about going back to school to make 6 figures but if that’s possible in this field I’d want to stick around.
