no but with them. compliance had a boom a few years ago, but i think thats calmed down a bit, although they are still hiring.Anybody ever work in the Risk/Compliance side of Banking?
How did you brehs decide which area of finance was best for you?
I think i want to go into financial planning, i think its important to bring some of that knowledge back to our communities. I enjoy having conversations with people who know what their long term goals are
However, i dont want to feel like a salesman always hawking products and services with people.
How did you get on that path? What is the average day like in that field?to all my Banking/Finance Brehs and Brehettes! I'm an Assistant VP in wholesale Banking. I work in Mergers and Acquisitions. Trying to get to that executive level so I can get those stock options and million dollar salaries

Applied for a summer internship my junior year of college(I was really applying for anything that would pay me), ended up getting one with The Bank of New York Mellon. Did a good job that summer, got an offer the for a FT position after graduation from the same bank, and got placed in their municipal/corporate debt business as an account Assistant, and in two years got an offer from another bank to be in their mergers and acquisition Department as an account assistant. 2 years after that(2015), got promoted to an AVP with my own portfolio of M&A accounts. How did you get on that path? I have a finance degree but Im currently in the military. I graduated from non-targeted school for high-level finance: Pace University. Ideally I want to have my own Private Equity fund but I'm trying to identify pathways where there's not a fast glass ceiling for blacks.Applied for a summer internship my junior year of college(I was really applying for anything that would pay me), ended up getting one with The Bank of New York Mellon. The average day fluctuates, I spend most of my time reviewing contracts and agreements, talking to customers and their lawyers(I have a bunch of relationships with law firms and lawyers) and having my assistant set up wires for releases for my clients.
The best part of my job (pre-COVID) was the traveling out of state, taking my clients out to eat and drink, all on the Banks Dime, I miss that shyt a lot![]()
