Applied for a summer internship my junior year of college(I was really applying for anything that would pay me), ended up getting one with The Bank of New York Mellon. Did a good job that summer, got an offer the for a FT position after graduation from the same bank, and got placed in their municipal/corporate debt business as an account Assistant, and in two years got an offer from another bank to be in their mergers and acquisition Department as an account assistant. 2 years after that(2015), got promoted to an AVP with my own portfolio of M&A accounts.

The average day fluctuates, I spend most of my time reviewing contracts and agreements, talking to customers and their lawyers(I have a bunch of relationships with law firms and lawyers) and having my assistant set up wires for releases for my clients.

The best part of my job (pre-COVID) was the traveling out of state, taking my clients out to eat and drink, all on the Banks Dime, I miss that shyt a lot :wow::mjcry:

:salute: a big part of my job is working with M&A lawyers to open and manage escrow accounts for their clients for an acquisition. I’ve met some cool ones along the way for sure.
That’s whatsup breh. Good to see some fellow brehs in our field. I’m assuming you’re based in ATL? How’s the finance market out there? I’m curious how emerging ATL is considering how many people and industries are establishing there.

Yeah I’m in ATL. The financial market is good out here and we have a nice financial hub in midtown and downtown, and the state has done a good job of bringing major business to the area.

I’ll have to tap back in with you once I visit ATL for the first time. Curious to know the good spots upscale black people be at :mjpls:

finance is tough to break in. I skipped the IB route and landed in Private Equity through a miracle. You just stay persistent. For those who want to get in the industry use resources like:

www.mlt.org

They place those who are still in school (grad and undergrad) with internships and job placements into big time finance. If you are trying to get a MBA, they would do test prep for you and look out for scholarships and grants.
