I'm pretty straight edge. I rarely drink, only on certain social occasions. And I've never really been a smoker. Probably haven't smoked in like 3 years now...

No shots at you, I just want to clarify since it is a pet peeve of mine when I hear it -- Straight edge is a specifically defined, committed lifestyle of no drugs and no smoking, and is also a subculture in and of itself (with roots in punk and DIY); one is either sxe or isn't. Lots of people say stuff like the bold because the term is misunderstood I guess.

That is true for a significant contingent of sXe'ers for sure, and to varying degrees it is important for almost all of us. However that is not the core defining principle.

I saw alot of addiction in my family so I never touch the stuff. I support safe drug but that ain't me.
I don't have quitting advice since I never started but I can offer perspective. I'm coming on 28 and some of my peers who party every weekend look like they could be my parents.including the black people. My skin is damn near flawless, my hair I God like and I've managed to dodge several genetic conditions that run through my family. ( I got receipts)

( I got receipts)I've told all this before in other sections, but I'm an alcoholic/addict, I got sober when I was 21, and have been for 11 years, this November. I started smoking weed and selling weed at like 16, then it was coke, add in xanax, valium, percoset, fifth a day of liquor, and I ended up like DMX "Slippin", at 21, when I went to treatment.
Anyone with serious questions about addiction or treatment, I'd have no problem answering/discussing.

I'd be interested in hearing how you went from 0 to addiction. Was it a slippery slope that you didn't even realize you were falling into or did you always abuse to excess from the moment you tried things?
i smoke weed occasionally. drink wine. have a beer or two at cookouts, have a couple shots at a bar when i'm out, nothing that gets me drunk. other than a couple guinness or dragon stout (which i've been drinking a little of with my parents' approval since i was a pre-teen), i generally don't keep beer or hard liquor in the house though.
