Had the USA enforced the Paris Accords :snoop:

The USA p*ssy-footed with Vietnam and let reporters shape the narrative. Its no wonder why US media is always pro-military since then. The government was not about to let another Vietnam shape public opinion.
The US dropped more bombs in Vietnam than any war ever and since. The us didn't p*ssy foot aroubd with literal kill zones enforced where anyone and everyone was shot on sight no questions asked including thousands of civilians.

The government lied endlessly not for any arguable real reason like the supposed containment of communism but because, and the pentagon papers prove this, simply because no president wanted to lose an election. The press in this case were god sends for the American public.

Militarily as I said, the most success the west had was during operation linebacker. Not after Tet. They were still getting their shyt pushed in after Tet. Despite that, before the US sniffed Vietnam, the French had their hands full dealing with an insurgent Vietnamese population. They dealt with that for decades before the US came in and took over and the French pulled out for the same reason we did which was the public and France realized it was an unwinnable quagmire and we're losing too many soliders.

What makes you think that the US would have more success and "subdue" the Vietnamese? They would have the same problem, because the Vietnamese just wanted to be left the fukk alone.

Even democratic sympathizers can't deny that after Nixon, the democrats cut aid to Vietnam and basically ignored their agreements in the Paris peace accords. The Myth That Congress Cut Off Funding for South Vietnam

So I mean, thats undeniable.

My point is that the US was somewhat winning, until the costs were just not immediately perceptive.

Yall mad?

The Tet offensive failed.

So? It doesn't mean America would've won the war. America's attritional body count strategy against the Viet Cong/Viet Minh failed. Moreover, the South Vietnamese Army was utterly incompetent in facing the North Vietnamese. America would've never won that war short of nuking the entirety of North Vietnam.

America dropped more bombs on North Vietnam than they dropped on Germany during World War II and they couldn't defeat a nation of rice farmers and fisher-folk.

Stop being so ridiculous.

Pre Paris Peace Accords, the VC basically admitted the South was winning.

I mean, take that how you will.

What's sad is how the American public still hasn't learned lessons from Vietnam. People were mad that Obama didn't intervene in Syria enough as if it was guaranteed that an American presence their would have decreased the violence or that the rebels we would have been supporting wouldn't have been worst than Assad.

What lessons are to be learned?

Everything is up for grabs, and I'd rather the USA have a role in it.

Syria was about Russian expansion. Period.

Why do you say that?

Unless you're ok with Russian expanding influence or Chinese expanding influence.

Theres consequences out here.

I'd rather the USA not be on Brazil status. Big, tons of potential, and unable to do shyt anyone cares about.

I'm for a world where all countries super powers and non super powers have their power checked and for all nations to be held accountable to international laws and human rights violations.
