I'm not surprised. The overwhelming majority of Black people that immigrate to the UK settle in England. Only a small few settle in other countries in the UK (Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland).

Heck some of us “English” brehs and I say English in quotes didn’t know they existed or at least never came across themI mean, my point still stands. Most countries' media aren't showing them anything about the racial demographics of foreign countries.
In the IG post in the OP, I saw many Black English people say that not even they knew that Black Scots existed. So it has nothing to do with American media or anything like that.
Scotland is overwhelmingly White and so a Black person being from Scotland is just not something that crosses most people's minds
