I thank God for the word female. I tell my female students all the time that any man who uses it to describe a woman is to be avoided at all costs, and this thread is further proof of that. Black men will passionately defend their right to use one two-syllable word over another two-syllable word, but will cry like little children if some white guy says the n-word.

I can understand where you're coming from. However, I don't think the word choice is the problem. It's the tone. Would swapping "female" for "woman" really change the intent of what those dudes say? Would it erase their misogyny? A man can call a woman a queen all day and treat her like a bytch, so I think the focus should be on people's intent.

I agree and in every case I've heard it, it's a particular type of man. It's exhausting trying to get them to see how it's disrespectful, so I just ignore those who use it instead of the words women/girls.

I don’t agree with it being hate speech but anything...your dog or cat etc can be a female... only a human can be a woman
