Of course. Realistically only one race wear durags regularly and that's not going to change drastically with any level of marketing.

They tried to upscale a basic understanding item into street wear high fashion territory when it's demographic is niche at best. Even amongst brehs. It's like people think business planning is an after thought or something. Idealism shouldn't be leading your planning when you putting bread down to make bread.

Having Black owned businesses does not require us to only cater to Black people. Take everyone's money. If you want to serve a smaller audience for whatever purpose then plan for that don't think you can force a demand that doesn't exist even with hype.

This is the part that often dooms a lot of black owned businesses, they seem to always wanna sell exclusively to black people only.

The black community doesn't build welath by simply having money exchange hands between black people in that community. You need to import wealth into the black community from other communities as well.

So the scenario is probably worse, as someone who has opened a business or two

If you have the cash you can open a business. All you have to do is sign the lease on a building or studio, and have an LLC and boom you have a business. So, she probably used her own personal money, or borrowed/got investment from a BF or family members....which means that money is gone and aint coming back.

At least with a loan you are making payments, or can just default on it or something...she lost cold, hard-earned worked for cash (or someones drug/scammer money)

I don’t know all the ins and outs of certain businesses but I’ll never understand going brick & mortar nowadays. Why the hell would I buy a building or pay rent for a building plus all the other overhead when I can get a damn domain name and hosting for under $100/year, and have the whole WORLD at my disposal? Or just sell on an already established e-commerce platform and pay the 12% fee
