Can tidal really own Prince masters? Or is that not possible? Because if they do, jay would be amoral to sell it to Apple. Prince fcked with Tidal cause Jay was independent of these higher ups. I hope jay don't betray Prince.

No one owns Prince's masters but his estate. There's a contract with Tidal not Jay-Z over streaming his music. If Apple buys Tidal then it owns the duration of that contract and it is applicable. At worst, renegotiate with his estate. We're fans of his records but the biggest Prince fans are likely not streaming subscribers anyway and prefer a free-tier.

exactly barr.....Its the reason why I don't manage artists anymore..i had a deal in place for an artist to have their music distributed thru tunecore/universal like in 2014...but when I started doing research on the potential streaming revenue to be gained from outlets like Youtube, Pandora, Spotify etc. I was like fukk dat shyt

thank god the deal was only for a year....so I pulled are material off of tunecore....stop promoting ...and just told my artist to keep her day job
