A team that had its first season together made it all the way to the finals and lose vs a team full of vets is not a disappointment no matter how you spin it

Than the fact they came back and now have won BACK to BACK titles proves all they needed was time to figure it out

The lakers were a team filled with vets and had already won titles with that core and ADDED two more hall of fames only to become the must hyped up dissapointment in sports history

You can shyt on that mavs team all you want but they were a great team lead by two hall of famers that had been together for years if you don't want to give them any respect that's on you

Of course I respect the Mavs. That's my squad... I just think it's hilarious that all anybody wants to discuss about the 2011 Finals is how The Heat/LeBron let it slip away. Nobody ever gives Dallas any credit for winning, they just talk about the Heat losing. Dirk didn't earn the MVP and his ring, LeBron gifted it to him, according to 99% of the world.

Until it's more convenient for your hollow Laker-shytting arguments to say that it was the grizzled veteran Mavericks team that won it and the Heat "needed more time." :skip:

I like how you say the Heat "needed more time" to mesh, but the Lakers, who brought in a new PG, C, and a new coach less than 10 games into the season get no such benefit.

You do realize that the Heat carried over 3 starters (Chalmers, Wade, Haslem) just like the Lakers did (Kobe, Pau, World Peace) right?

and proceeded to disappoint.

Yeah but in no way is making it all the way to the championship in your first season together a disappointment that's just a ridiculous statement

If they got sweep in the first round than you would have a point

Not one laker fan or sports writer or analysis thought the lakers were the complete joke they turned out to be

Now your just rewriting history " oh we all knew they were gonna suck"

Bullshyt they were hyped just as much as the heat

And that pats team is one of the most disappointing team in history but problem with them is they went back losing again that's the difference between them and the heat

The lakers are the other hand didn't even get that far and have no chance of sniffing the finals for years to come

That's the definition of a disappointment

The Laker team that the media was hyping didn't play in the playoffs while on the other hand the media hyped Miami Heat team did.

2013 Lakers were a huge disappointment in the regular season and 2011 Heat were a huge disappointment in the Finals. 2013 Lakers were injured. 2011 Heat choked.

At the end of the day, lots of people still had the Spurs and Thunder coming out of the West instead of the Lakers before the season started.

Nobody had the Heat losing to a "soft," "old," "choking," team like the Mavericks in 2011.

That mavs team was extremely lucky and will never get the respect they deserve but they were a great team is sucks that everybody seem them as a complete fluke but that's Cubans fault not keeping the team together

Yes they added a new Pg and C and added as many new starters as the heat but unlike the heat they had already won titles with there core they added two hall of famers to what were considered there biggest needs

But the heat made it to the finals the lakers had to fight for an 8th seed only to get swept and already have dismantle unlike the heat

Why do you keep bringing up the Lakers getting swept??? That team in the playoffs was not the same team the media was hyping up.

Already being dismantled?? The Lakers were old and it's two best players have been to together since early 08 while winning 2 ships and 3 Finals appearances.

AGAIN, the 2013 Lakers were huge disappointment in the regular season and the 2011 Heat were a huge disappointment in Finals.

Tons of people had the veteran mavs that had swept the two time defending champs and won a much stronger west beating the young first year heat

You claim to be a mavs fan and act like nobody thought that was a great team

But that's just a lie people like to just say it was an all out choke cuz of there hatred of lebron but that was a better and much more rounded team

I think Cuban pointing out to Skip on first take perfectly why is wasn't a choke and more of a great coaching effort on how they guarded Lebron

That's the same as saying the pats 16-0 team just choked as a pats hater that's easy to say but anybody that knows football knows the giants rush was just a perfect matchup vs the pats

It was disappointing the heat lost but ill never say getting all the way to the finals was a disappointment or one of the biggest even that's just extremely hard to do and considering it was there first year together

I'd say it was a success

Believe me, I could write an entire novel on how I think the Mavericks were the best team in 2011 and earned that title. Rick Carlisle was/is the 2nd best coach in the league, Dirk didn't miss in the 4th quarter those playoffs, and they had so much flexibility with Kidd/Stevenson/Marion, that they were able to match up with Kobe, RW, KD, Wade, and LBJ.

But don't get it twisted. LOTS of people picked us to get upset by the Blazers in the first round. Especially when they tied it up 2-2 after Brandon Roy cried, majority said it was a wrap. Then it was lights out for us vs. the 2-time-defending champ Lakers. Then the young 3-headed-monster OKC was going to school us. THEN it was Miami Heat who had basically only played 1 bad game (Game 1 ECF vs. Bulls) the past 1.5 months that were going to beat us.

We were picked by many to lose every single round of those playoffs. And even when we won, the dialogue was and always will be about the Heat.

You said it yourself just a couple posts above, "Those Mavs were an extremely lucky team." As if every championship team doesn't have luck? As if the Heat weren't EXTREMELY luck in Game 6 of this past NBA Finals? Some call it luck, some call it gift-wrapped, but either way, nobody's giving credit to the '11 Mavericks. Fair or not, in the eyes of the sports world that was a massive chokejob by the Miami Heat, and it will always be remembered that way. :yeshrug:

I

I hear you but the media hyped Laker team only played 20 games together and no games in the playoffs. As a Laker fan the injuries were a huge disappointment not the team as a whole because we barely got to see them.

But like you said injuries are apart of the game and so is choking.

The 2013 Lakers are up there along with the 2004 Lakers. And how the hell would the 2011 Heat be more dissapointing? :heh:

Are you really comparing a team that barely made the playoffs and got swept vs a team that dominated their conference and lost in 6 in the Finals, who, not to mention went on to win back to back titles the years after?

:heh:
