Smart people are avoiding expensive investments and don't like the outlook.

At the end of the day:

People who got it all together will have kids, maybe.

Stupid people don't see it coming and will reproduce though. That includes reckless, careless people upholding traditions and what people "should do" for the sake of doing it. If that's the biggest crowd making the next generation then we're honestly in trouble.

So it depends, but I personally don't like the direction it's going. People with sense are bailing, people who don't know any better or not thinking with their brain are pumping them out. The 2nd group will be voting.

Agree with other posters. People can't afford it. Also, feminism put women in a position where they are not reliant on men to survive as in the past. Individualism has been slowly replacing family dynamics.
Women have jobs and money

Got opinions and options

Explain the difference please

Population-momentum_1350.png

Basically, even though women are having fewer kids on average, there are so many women of reproductive age that the population will still keep going up for a long time. There's also the fact that people are living longer, and having a lot of people living to 80+ also keeps the population high.

Women have the options to not be putting their lives at risk needlessly (birth control)

Industrialized nations have too high of a COL + older age for birth of first kid

Many people don’t need 3/4+ kids anymore

Better medical care means more kids survive birth and infancy/childhood so no need to have as many

The funny thing is, I don't think people can even answer "why" they value what they value in the first place.

Like even if you have someone who does well in their career, is a top-performer at their company, etc. many want to have kids because that's what they were taught or that's what they think they're "supposed to do".

However, there's no rule for that as nothing happens if you have/don't have kids. They just may potentially be bringing in a liability to their lifestyle.

This "Crisis" is all about capitalism
On both sides. Birth rates are declining in educated countries because people see how expensive it is to raise families and opting out and the only reason any one cares about this is because so many of the top economies in the world are based on growth. Mofos are only worried about having enough peons to keep the engine going at the same rate. Right now the earth has the most people it's ever had on it so birth rates declining is actually a good thing imo

Sure, the population will stabilize eventually, but not until like 2100 or later. The concern is what do to until then.

I'm not telling anybody to eat bugs if they don't want to :whoa: but feeding 10 billion+ people is a legit issue and climate change will make it worse

2. Living longer
