Basically, even though women are having fewer kids on average, there are so many women of reproductive age that the population will still keep going up for a long time. There's also the fact that people are living longer, and having a lot of people living to 80+ also keeps the population high.

I still don't see the issue

So capitalism is the culprit.

It's also falling in Vietnam and China, who are ostensibly communist. (Capitalist with Asian characteristics?)

But it's probably women choosing to work/"having to work" in most places along with the move away from agriculture towards cities.

That said, I wonder if globally folks are just having less sex - or all these microplastics and environmental endocrine disruptors are really affecting things.

Women have prioritized their careers over having children. While society has been setup to benefit families over the individual

The cost of living in the US really started going up when women joined the workforce in full :francis: (Black women have always worked outside the home in many cases. This is an issue that PAWGs caused)
Still doesn't explain why Middle Eastern and Latin American countries have seen some of the steepest declines in birth rates. Aren't those societies heavily patriarchal?

1. birth control and abortion access
2. feminism
3. inflation and debasement of fiat currencies ( this means the dollar loses value due to money printing)
4. reckless housing markets without stability

Too expensive + women’s liberation.

Too many other things you could be doing other than reproducing. I don’t blame anyone.

Cost of living is extremely high. People are less social than ever and third places (bars, malls, arcades, community centers) are disappearing. I saw stats that like half of young adults are still living with their parents in the United States. We have created a society that is hostile towards meaningful forming bonds with other people.

1.Cost of living, 2. monogamy slowly being phased out and polygamy/harems making a comeback due to women no longer being dependent on men financially. 3. Internet making people asocial.

2010 Japan really was a glimpse into the future.
