Are black people disproportionetly predisposed to having anger problems?

I feel my worst emotion is anger. I've had problems with anger since I was younger, but the older I get the more those issues go away. I just think it had to with growing up as a first generation Nigerian/West Indian American in predominantly white Pittsburgh. I can remember from my kindergarten to early grade school years constantly getting into fights with people cause I was one of the few black students in the school having to fight off racist white kids insulting me and picking on me. I also wore glasses and people would call me "urkle" (cause Family Matters was popular at the time).

Rather than get depressed (I did get depressed though) I got really angry over the years (I would punch walls, break glass bottles against the floor, throw things, etc....never could take it out on an actual person) and I still find myself dealing with anger problems that started in the past. I've been doing all I can to make myself "less" angry over the years but these issues keep coming up sometimes and make it impossible to enjoy life.

I guess I would be less angry if I was able to find work whenever I wanted not have to worry about income, could just go and meet women when I wanted to but due to my race and background I've always had problems with the opposite sex and even trying to get basic employment going.

And yes I posted the thread title as such cause...yes...our reasons for being angry are way different than a white person's or an asian person's or a hispanic person's....(even though similar at times they extend towards a different matter).

Nah,but most of our cultures whether African-American, Carribean, or African frown on passive-aggression. I'd say that makes us more direct with our anger, but the anger is still there in any race.

Negged.
What purpose does this comment serve?

But then again, racist agitating internet troll crap like this adds to the fuel of anger many black folks face in this country (world possibly).

LOL.

I guess I am...but I'm trying not to be.

I've actually been forced into anger management groups in high school as a disciplinary result of an argument with two girls.

I was the only person forced into it...no joke. People in my school (high school/college) were always trying to tout me as "the angry black guy".

I'm actually a really chill person in real life that likes to smoke weed and make music and enjoy life. Anger I just feel is not my true emotion or the emotion I want representingme.

This.

I don't know how to do passive agressive. I do know how to be agressive. Like I'm not afraid to get up in anybody's face and call them out on their BS.

Well, with the shyt that most blacks deal with growing up and no real answer to solve the problems it's going to build frustration.

Exactly! In fact I think most black on black violence just stems from frustration and desperation spurred by joblessness, lack of opportunity, racism, discrimination, prejudice, etc. It's like a battered wife syndrome of sorts. Since most are powerless to direct their anger to the people responsible for the plight they face, they'll take it out on each other.

my wife is a 1st grade teacher in harlem. she has a classroom of 19 kids, 18 of them hispanic and 1 black girl. she had to get the black girl taken out of her classroom cause she threw daily tantrums, ripped papers off the walls, kicked chairs and tables and cursed at all the other kids. all because she would get frustrated at a math problem or spelling test.
