This.

Last retail CD I bought was in 2006 and I'm an old head.

CD's will be casette tape status by 2020 as even video games and movies will all be streaming. Streaming is the future. Technological waste has become a bigger problem moving into the 21st century as formats become outdated and technology is constantly upgraded and replaced. It's more economical as well. Ofcourse this will lead to the shutting down of pressing plants, but like VHS and tapes now, more than likely CDs will be made in lower quantities to suit those who are late adapters to new technology and mediums.

Video Games will still be CDs because people actually like having the disc.

I think streaming will eventually make it's way into gaming, not now at this point in time though...that will be probably the last medium to become fully digitized.

I just think a world where all of the media is on tall monolithic black servers somewhere in a basement in the world is a weird and almost unfriendly and cold sterile concept.

Xbox and Psp tried to pull that streaming bs and it failed. The Pros of having a physical copy of a game outweigh streaming. Then again who knows?

Someones been watching too much Dystopian Anime.

LOL. Yeah, I don't see the concept of physical media ever going away honestly. Especially for gaming.

Vinyl will always be the bread and butter of the physical mediums because of that cool factor associated with it that's been b*stardized with resale and resellers.

Like I like to check out discogs marketplace to buy house and techno records primarily. It's funny how the internet and social media has changed the market.

Now, a big name DJ will play an old school NYC house track from 1993 that was on Nervous or Strictly Rhythm and the kids will find that record and now a record that used to be just $2.82 in the marketplace is now $305.24. I've seen it happen.

I can see a situation where rap catalogues are bought out and reissued through bigger labels. That's what's happening now with some 90s music. Some indie labels also do this to attract attention to their labels, by reissuing something old and obscure.

It's because of resale value. You can't trade in digital content & you can't resell digital content on eBay and Amazon. I feel digital content has to be cheaper to justify such a purchase.

Gamers want to resell...and I like buying used games as well.

Technically it has with android & iOS!!! But the price point is low!

$60 games will not easily be digital only...people want to resell!

:mjcry: Local rappers still asking you to but a cd...

...

:scust:
:russ:

Don't you hate when you walking along, get stopped they put the cd in your hand..then they ask for donation..

"Nah bruh sorry:patrice: "

Then they take the cd back :heh:.

It's so counter-productive...like you're better off handing out cards with your youtube/soundcloud name on them.

Expecting people to pay for a cd without hearing any content from it in 2015 :mjlol:

Sure but for people who like to collect and support their artist it isn't. Think of CDs like secondary merchandise for artists now. I like it when artist do cool collectors editions with vinyl's and stuff like that.

i love cds and i love vinyl

the cd player in my car is iffy, but its 6cd, and my stereo at home is 5 cd. i love that physical feel, skipping songs, changing the "lineup" or whatever you call it. i got no problem carrying around a book of cds. plus it seems more direct than an aux cord or bluetooth, i feel like with that some shyt gets lost in the sauce. i'll never pay money for a download/non physical copy. if i download an album for free, i'll buy the physical copy still to support that artist. and i do love looking at the book

im sure cds will go out, but that would suck if because not as many are produced, the price goes up

Iono bruh's im fairly old myself, and even I am finding myself hopping on this streaming/itunes wave.

The ease and access of digital music is too convenient in this day and age. All the artists Ive supported this year have been through itunes. Especially with this new trend of midnight and surprise drops, I dont have time to wait a whole day then go stand on a line to cop a physical.

New model cars and laptops dont even come with disc drives. I think its about time we all just embrace this new medium and go strictly digital for the future.

I noticed that shyt too...I had rented some 2016 SUV the other day and me and my girl spent an hour looking for the CD DRIVE ..come to find out it didn't have one

i can't bring myself to buy a bunch of mp3 files while they're prctically the same price as the cd. i'll get the cd straight from the artist (Strange Music) or from Amazon or something but paying $16 for itunes is ridiculous when you don't GET anything for it.
