Are gamers annoyed that they are being forced to buy (potentially) crappy games?

you don't need a particularly powerful GPU to 'max out' Titanfall. you just need a competent GPU with 3+GB of ram. plus the benefits of playing at your native resolution outweigh the benefits of playing with 'insane' textures (vs the next step down) IMO. applying a scaler to high-res textures kinda defeats the purpose (again IMO). but I guess the X1 has an excess of memory but not power, so they do what they can to squeeze the most out
All of that changes when talking about how most people play console games. Sitting back on the couch resolution differences are not very noticeable if at all(I've done the experiments myself) but differences in textures/lighting are.

I think that's why we've seen Xbox one devs shoot for better textures/lighting at the expense of resolution.

Source Engine taxing modern hardware. :laff:

You guys would come up with anything to defend your console peasant lineage. :whew:

I actually PC game on a 45" HDTV

anyway texture quality is pretty much only dependent on the amount of memory. the X1 has plenty of that. as far as the lighting and other options, any competent GPU can handle those easily, at their max settings, at 1080p (everything but the higher anti aliasing settings)

and honestly Titanfall's 'insane' textures don't look that much better than 'high'. for that matter, the 'insane' textures don't look that good :manny:

*reaches into pocket*

Oh look, I found video of old hardware running the game maxed out, at 720p, running faster than XB1 (that is, 30+ FPS).

:umad:

That's running at a lower resolution and framerate. And there's nothing to indicate that what that dude is saying is true.

Digital foundry analysis is the most complete/reliable go read it

I'm just going by what I can see and what devs have said. They've tested the game out at lower settings and higher resolution, but they decided that the game looks better at higher settings and lower resolution.
