Are old BMWs THAT bad to look at?

Everytime I ask someone about older BMWs they always start about how expensive the parts are. Well how expensive are they and how long do they last? Common sense tells me if theyre expensive they last long, is that a myth or are BMWs shytty cars? Also on a side note: WHat matters more? Age or Mileage and Maintenance?

nikka yes. Im on my 3rd BMW but I refuse to own them out of warrenty..

Best car on the market all around performance wise but god damn these shyts are prone to be in the shop, transmition problems, electricle problems. It's always something.

It's all good when the repair bills are covered and they puttin you in a loaner car but when that's over KYS
