the thing is with me is...the new bmw's and mercedes are wack to me, they look like souped up nissan's and civics...
the ones like 99-2002 are the best cuase they have there own look to them...same goes for the 90's ones i guess too

new ones all look nice, and again its not about look its about drivability, you cant compare a nissan or civic when it comes to ride quality. When you talk about benchmark of sports cars M3 is what sents the tone, all companies use the M3 as a benchmark when creating cars, Lambhorghini and Ferrari themselves step up to the plate and have admitted.

i have a 07 corolla, it has wait let me convert 111.846815 miles on it
great on gas, only repairs so far was when i was in a accident (my fault), and also it was running lean (got that fixed), minus that all i've had to do is oil changes, all i care about in a car is getting me from point a to point b and my car does that perfectly. I'll ride this car till it rusts away

Some of the new Bimmers are cool mechanically, but I agree that looks wise and character wise the old ones have way more character. Nothing like a shark nose Bimmer.
The newer ones looks downright Japanese in comparison. Still nice, but nowhere near as much character.
Plus the performance thresholds of the new ones are so high you can't even enjoy them on the street. An old E30 or E36 M3, you can push them close to the limit. E46 is questionable. E90, you might not even be able to fully open it up on a race track.
Plus also the old cars are expensive to maintain, but most of the shyt is just mechanical. I wouldn't recommend it for the OP cause he seems like a young kid who would be in over his head. But I would rock the shyt out of an old Bimmer/Benz. Its just parts. These new cars though... you need a fiberoptic diagnostic tool just to figure shyt out, and then the prices of parts are 3x insane. These cars are literally junk out of warranty, and even in warranty many of em have a lot of problems.

Yea I already decided I'm gonna ge a i30. They have the Maxima Engine and they look sleek.
