Kanye helped push Jay beyond the strictly black demo and pushed him into a household name. Then Beyoncé took him over the top.

In real time Blueprint was just another big Jay-Z album. It's critically acclaimed but probably less significant commercially than what he was doing in the couple years before it.

Diddy saved Jay with AG coming off KC.

Kanye pulled Jay into the conscience realm and Kanye changed the game enough Jadakiss made Why a single. Kanye mainstreamed common and twista...plus helped Jamie Foxx get taken serious in music.

Jay-Z fans like AG, but commercially that's like his worst album. The only song I ever heard in public is Roc Boys sometimes and that wasn't Kanye.

Which is the long way to say he was just in the game since vol 2.

Before Blueprint, my impression of Jay Z was more of a party rapper with some nice party/club hits. Being from Atlanta and being relatively young, I hadn't listened to stuff like Reasonable Doubt in full. Blueprint to me was when he seemed to mature into "Jay-Z," and the Kanye production contributed a lot to that. I remember picking up the album as a freshman in college and thinking that Jay-Z had stepped up a bunch for that album.

Ask yourself if Jay Z never met Kanye would he have had 20 straight years of consistent dominance or just fell off after his lil run in the 90s? End of discussion

This is not the place to have reasonable discussions about Jay or Kanye but this is Nap level posting quoting this particular twitter account.
The truth of the matter is Jay and Kanye both helped each others careers and they made a lot of great songs and moments together. The WTT Tour is legendary to anyone who went. .

EDIT didn’t realize this thread was made by the guy with the 7 Kendrick accounts. Shame on me for responding!
The two moving podium stages :wow:

nikkas in Paris back to back to back :wow:

Jay finishing the set with Encore :wow:

Can't believe it's been almost 15 years :old:

People's hate for Jay never ceases to amaze me. Son has been on top and consistent his whole career.

Did he benefit from working with Ye, sure. Did Ye benefit from the Jay co-sign? Of course he fukking did.

Jay would still be Jay regardless, and the impact he has had on the careers of Ye, Rihanna and Beyonce is bigger than the one they had on his.
