Kanye was not doing "arena Pop rock anthems" during that era. If anything, this was T.I.'s approach during that era. From "No Matter What" to "Live Ya Life" to "Dead and Gone". Musically down to the features, this was more so T.I. during that era than Kanye.

Nah he defiantly was doing arena rap during that era. He intentionally made Graduation to sound that way.

After spending the previous year touring the world with Irish rock band U2 on their Vertigo Tour, West became inspired by watching Bono open the stadium tours every night to incredible ovations and sought out to compose anthemic rap songs that could operate more efficiently in large stadiums and arenas. j

That was 2007. BP3 dropped in 2009. By that time, Kanye's latest album was 808's & Heartbreaks. Which means during the recording of BP3, it was during the era in which he was recording 808's & Heartbreaks. Even still, Graduation didn't have Kanye on these big power Pop songs with huge Pop singers on the hook. This didn't become trendy until Paper Trail.

People's hate for Jay never ceases to amaze me. Son has been on top and consistent his whole career.

Did he benefit from working with Ye, sure. Did Ye benefit from the Jay co-sign? Of course he fukking did.

Jay would still be Jay regardless, and the impact he has had on the careers of Ye, Rihanna and Beyonce is bigger than the one they had on his.

Facts.

Without Dame and Jay, Kanye probably never gets an album out, as a rapper. But Hov was selling out tours and selling his most records ever, before Kanye even threw him a beat. So that's the thing about Jay, he really never needed anyone. He can cook a classic with whoever is around and he's shown that since day one. American Gangster was mostly produced by two Terror Squad producers, mixed with a couple loosies from known names, and that's one of his best albums. His last album was just him and No ID, and the sh*t was critically acclaimed.

Again, Kanye ain't save sh*t.

Stronger, Flashing Lights, Big Brother, Homecoming, Good Life were definitely all big sounding anthemic songs designed to ring off in arenas.

Yes, they are. That sound didn't start with Kanye. In Hip Hop, T.I./Toomp were making these big anthemic songs. "What You Know" was their biggest and that led to Kanye having Toomp produce songs on Graduation. Jay Z even had Toomp on American Gangster. The other side of that are songs like "Flashing Lights", "Stronger", and "Good Life" which obviously had a Timbaland influence.

That happened in 98

This.

And in terms of the '00's decade, I don't think people understand how big those Black Album remixes were. Those helped not only Jay's legacy, but kept him relevant and made him more relevant to people who didn't listen to rap. One of those tapes blended The Black Album with the Beatles. A lot of Jay's biggest hits in the '00's and '10's had nothing to do with Kanye:

Big Pimpin'

I Just Wanna Love Ya

Excuse Me Miss

Change Clothes

Dirt Off Your Shoulders

99 Problems

Show Me What You Got

Empire State of Mind (his biggest song as a solo artist)

Holy Grail

Ask yourself if Jay Z never met Kanye would he have had 20 straight years of consistent dominance or just fell off after his lil run in the 90s? End of discussion

Just Blaze gave him a push in the early 2000’s too so his run would’ve still been intact. Look at Blueprint 2 & The Black Album.
