Are people who have Lil Wayne in their top 10 retarded?

Wayne was a god in NYC.
I'm not a huge Wayne fan but this is facts. I remember people here bumping Wayne like crazy and reciting his mixtape verses as if they were on hit songs during his prime.

There was also a public interview back in 2008 in NYC when C3 came out and the interviewer asked random Black dudes in the street about how they felt about the album. Every single one of them said that Wayne was their favorite rapper and said they liked the album. I wish I could find that same interview.

As for me, there's plenty of rappers I prefer over Wayne. Wayne's not even over Ghostface or Ice Cube for me.

But he no doubt has one of the best careers in hip hop, rivalring Hov, Nas, Ye, and Em. So, if we factor in his numbers, impact, and success overall, I guess you can make a case that he's top 10.

If Wayne died a month before Tha Carter 3 dropped, the culture would made him 2Pac/Biggie status. Maybe even above them with all the songs he had in the vault before they got leaked. :manny:

Top 3 is Rakim, KRS-One and Big Daddy Kane. The rest of the spots can go to whomever.

If Wayne gets in the Top 10.....then so does Eminem.

That's the compromise.

One of the most polarizing and overrated rappers ever......has been frequently said about both

Both Em and Wayne fans gotta admit this

He ain't in mine, but given all he's accomplished, I can't say he doesn't deserve to be in the conversation

He's got classic albums, mixtapes, verses, features, quotables, long-lasting influences, current day relevancy, sales numbers, and he put other high profile artists on (i.e. Nicki, drake)

It's really not much more he could've done to be greater

The main things that make it hard for me to take him more seriously is the ghostwriting, being a fake blood, his c00n statements, and that period of his career where he became a parody of himself lyrically

Let's not even discuss his rock phase :mjlol:

But overall, wayne deserves his credit. He did a lot for rap. For better or for worse, game would be completely different without him

God's Plan
he's a strange case for me b/c there are periods of time in his career where he was wack af and absolutely terrible-- the height of his popularity oddly enough. other periods he's so dope you cant deny the talent.
