I'm not sure why this is such an issue. There are always going to be extremists in any following and Tariq's followers are no exception. Overall I would say you have to look at a person for their specific works within the community on a case by case basis. As posters have stated before he's able to reach blacks who until now have not really been open to some of the ideas and subjects he speaks on. I would say that's a good thing because although we can't reach everyone we'll take as many as we can. If you don't personally agree with or like Tariq let it be known but if people don't agree with you after you present your argument then keep it moving, you're going to have to reach people in your own way. The ultimate goal is progress in the community and there are going to be different methods of achieving it.

i dont subscribe to that one drop rule.

personally i think black men defend that rule so they can indulge in colorism and not be called out for it. thats another topic.
