Are the Lox overrated?

Clipse get hipster love. Those albums aren’t that dope they cool.

All for the Love and MPR alone clears any song on their albums.

The majority of people probably couldn't even one member of the clipse.

So Ransom, Griselda/Benny/38 Spesh are pretty much better versions of what Lox represent, with far better catalog of music.

Those guys just rap and put together short projects.

They never had pressure to make songs for radio, follow an album formula, and adhere to trends in the game.

This is a little bit inaccurate, though. Yes, they get a pass for having mid albums, but it's not like they only dropped mid albums and did nothing else. Because no one really champions their albums when they talk about what makes them great. What makes them great is the undeniable talent. The excellent songs within those albums. The verses with Biggie, and Jay, and X, and Pun, and the classic back and forth bars, and the excellent mixtapes, and the beefs with Beanie Sigel/State Prop, the Versuz with Dipset, and the overall longevity and consistency of skill.

They don't have classic albums as a group, but they have a lot of good work as solo artists as well for a long ass time span. The 3 of them never broke up or beefed internally with each other. That alone is super dope and admirable. fukk, how many groups can say that?

You can’t champion the albums because they aren’t good lol. Lots of people have “talent” and have verses with better artists.

Fab is another that is known for mixtapes and freestyles, with trash albums. Even he doesn't get the love Lox do. And his singles were more successful.

State Prop isn't even as loved as Lox. And Beans has The B.Coming...which the best thing Lox put out is Gangster/Gentleman which still under...Freeway has better albums, and the tons of mixtapes O & Chris put out that are of quality

CNN have The War Report, NORE, and while Capone's albums are trash, he goes bar for bar with anyone.

The Clipse/Re-Up/Pusha has better albums and mixtapes...and freestyles.

Lox are more revered than others in their bracket that put out much better quality music, just as many mixtapes if not more. To elevate them based on status is really disrespectful to others that out in the work.

Fab is a good one. People shyt on his albums(they do suck) but then suck off the lox.

At face value it's an odd take, but I don't necessarily hate it. If you judge your groups based on their catalogue, it's not a bad take at all. Clipse has a legitimate all time classic album that still sounds like nothing before or since then, and they have another album that's maybe not classic, but not far off either.

Clipse's first two albums are crazy fire.

I still have Lox over the Clipse personally, but if you're just going off their albums as a group? It could be Clipse.

Yes and it starts at the top. The front man of the group grew up in a nice two parent home where his dad had them sit by the fireplace drinking hot chocolate while reading bedtime stories like Mr Rogers. He sent Jada to private school molding him for medical school.

Instead, this guy becomes a rapper talking about fake ass shyt with no experience to reference from, and yall wonder why this clown can’t make a classic album. He actually has the audacity to welcome Gerald Prince Miller home like he was one of those kids outside that saw the drug dealers pull up with the fly cars and women.

That's insane. yeah, MOP 100% has a catalog better than The Lox. Not even close. MOP has one of the best catalogs of any duo ever.

Firing Squad, First Family 4 Life, and Warriorz is one of the most underrated 3 album runs of all time. And arguably the best of the 3 is the last one (Warriorz). Almost not one has the best of their 3 albums runs being the last entry.
