If I'm not mistaken, Teddy Riley went over there and produced a bunch of music so that's one reason that you'll hear stuff from over there, now, that would have been pumping in clubs over here 20 years ago.
Fun fact. In both mandarin and korean "nikka" has its own unrelated meaning.
In chinese, "nikka" (literally pronounced that way) is the equivalent of "ummmm" when you are trying to fill space when thinking of the next thought. It functions exactly like "eto" in japanese or the prolonged "soooo...." in soCal.
In korean, you put an action phrase and place "nikka"(literally pronounced that way) at the end of the phrase for confirmation. It functions like the french expression " c'nes pas?" or the english phrase "isnt it?". If you analyze his tonality in the video, you can get the same vibe as the english expression.
As a young breh, i misbehaved a lot as kid and would endure long periods of "no tv", "no cell phone", "no videogame" punishment from my parents. So to fill the void, i played around with language tapes and old langauge dictionaries my parents had around the house. I ended up soaking that stuff up like a normal kid soaks up an episode of full house or Ed, Edd, and Eddy. It shocked me too when i first heard these expressions. I even hit the a few times also. Context helped.
It's a clear homage right down to the dance moves.. but their young ass fanbase will never know that. Kinda reminds me when 90s kids thought Britney Spears was doing something special.
Kpop bites black artists without shame. I remember years ago Tupacs estate sued some Kpop group because they literally took his rap and put him in as a hologram in their video without asking permission at all. Just legit took his shyt and acted like it wasn't a problem.
