I hear what ya sayin, I respect your opinion, but infinite my assthe chances of us being the only beings like us is very small...however we would be separated by vast distances and may not exist at the same time.
if there were to be a planet that was able to pick up radio waves TODAY and the human race went out of existence tomorrow they would not pick up on our last transmission until it reached them.
if they were 1,000 light years away, that means that if we all died today that they would not receive any radio waves from us for 1,000 years...that's if they are even listening for us.
and 1,000 light years aint shyt...throw as many zeros on top of that as you want.

if we are a simulation then someone else is simulating us....
people have come up with the theory of us being simulations so i would assume that there are attempts being mad to contact our simulators.

Like you said think about how long it would take to travel. Gazillions of LIGHT years. Then you have to consider the fact of what position are the waves aimed at. If they're aimed at all directions they'd also have to be picked up from all directions. How is that possible? This "alien race" would have to be listening from ALL POINTS of the universe to pick up ONE tiny signal and vice versa. That's like standing on top of the Empire State Building looking down at the cars on the street trying to pinpoint the one with a "baby on board" sticker in the window....not possible

i agree that the chances of detecting another race is small for all the same reasons that you and i have posted.
the distances involved are immense.
the time between different civilizations existing is wide...and even if they existed simultaneously the time it would take for a radio wave traveling at light speed could be millions of years.

when it comes to intelligent life forms, think about humanity and other life forms, weve survived multiple mass extinction events that on other planets might kill off all intelligent life. then think about how old the universe is, 14 billiion years old, intelligent life has existed for about 100000 thousand years max,, which is a blip on the radar of the universe. so for intelligent life to exist you need the perfect conditions for life, then you need stability, then lastly you need these lifeforms to work together to prosper and not kill eachother forever. So the chance that theres intelligent life in the universe is actually pretty low even though the universe is fukking gigantic
