the observable universe has a radius of like 50 billion light years.
and they claim the universe is 14 billion years old.
a place that big....that has had that much time for so much random shyt to happen...it blows my mind someone can say they doubt theres life out there, or there has ever been life out there.
if you want to say you doubt theres intelligent life out there....then i guess. we musta been pretty damn lucky then.
lets say, for arguments sake, the universe is a coin. and to get human life, you have to flip the coin and get heads 100 straight times. thats extremely improbable, since theres only a 50 percent chance of getting heads the first time. the odds of getting heads twice in a row is 25 percent....12.5 percent for 3 times in a row....and so on and so forth. the point is, we have human life, and we know that no matter how improbable the odds are that it is possible....so its only a matter of time before it happens again.

Despite the the unbelievably large distances between star systems its actually quite scary to ponder what may be out there. Were essentially sitting ducks to alien civilization advanced enough to reach us. No telling what their intentions would be.

Maximized Potential
When you get into conversations like this, silly things like "years" hold less weight. A year is measured in the time Earth takes to orbit what we call a Sun. All things being equal, what about planets that are billions of times larger than our Sun? How would intelligent life on such vast planets measure time? Who's to say there's not a vast difference in life span when compared to ours? You give something like the universe a "start" or "beginning" because you're bias in your thought process. "Years" is just a measurement of time relative to just us. You can choose to ad a number to it and the size of that number wouldn't really make a difference. What might be 10,000 years to us may be a nanosecond to a different life form. I'm speaking only in relative terms here.
Universe is too big for me to believe we are alone. Also too big for me to believe it would take nothing short of a miracle for us to meet any other lifeforms who i'd reckon are of relatively equal intelligence as us.

It would be a bit naive to think that there's NOTHING living out there. The point that the universe is unfathomably huge makes it rational enough to say yes. It could very well be other human beings, or little green men.... shyt even mutant shrimp swimming in plasma hotter than the sun. So we won't know until we find something/someone/it or they come knocking at our door.
