Its not the name dropping that is of value, its the boldness and creativity... Papoose's diss is proof that you can say a nikka's name and still drop GARBAGE

While I see your point, I disagree. In this day and age, it IS the name-dropping that gives these beef songs value - more accurately, that gives them LIFE - because nikkas with questionable talent will have beef/diss records going back and forth (e.g., Waka and Gucci) and yet that'll be major news just because their names are widely known.

When 50 was calling nikkas out nikkas was saying he was ruining hip hop and nikkas need to stick together like the south, the fans asked for the current climate of hip hop. Hell they said the same thing when PAC started calling nikkas out, minus the south part. There is no pleasing us hip hop fans.
2Pac and 50 were idiots. I don't like so and so, you worked with so and so, so fukk you. Kendrick said it in the spirit of competition.

when it's done well, subliminal disses are great, it's more interesting than childish name calling like "Weak Millz" or something. when done properly, there's not much argument about who it's for anyway

All of this shyt is pointless until the nikkas he named say something... bunch of nikkas tryna get buzzes off of a buzzin' rappers song...

Funny thing... is Kendrick could be sitting back waiting for all of these disses then drop an ether on everyone who responded... :lupe:

This is PART of the problem I have with Buddens.

Like, I'm not a Budden fan, but the dude has bars for days, there's no denying that. He's highly skilled.

But he's a hoe ass nikka, plain and simple. He attention-whores like a project bytch.

Take this situation....really, why is he even involved? His name was not said....and even if he was born in Harlem, he still has never been even remotely considered a candidate for "King of New York" at any time, I think that's universally agreeable....so why would he even take offense to that line?

If anything, besides the blatant attention-whoring it looks like he took this as an opportunity to throw jabs at Meek, for whatever reason.

Not the same thing......50 was callin' out dudes to ridicule their SALES, and when they rightfully took offense he proclaimed them "enemies", told all his fans to not listen to/like them and went on the radio and read off sales figures live on the air in a manner which clearly suggested that he was making fun of them while basking in his own superiority.

There's no "spirit of competition" in shyt like that. That's just "I'm shyttin' on you nikkas because I'm on top right now".

That wasn't coming from a "cultural preservation/furtherance" sensibility.....that was selfishly motivated.

shyt equaled better results and at least them nikkas had a reason for dissing. Seem like Kendrick just did it to put some fukkery in the game and that's cool but when a nikka drop a diss and u know he means every word is a lot better.

fukk a spirit of competition, all these nikkas still gonna be friends and all up on each others songs and shyt, ain't nothing finna change. 50 let these nikkas know he was top of the food chain, that's real hip hop shyt right there. Just like most of the battles in the past, nikkas was letting nikkas know that they was on top and nikkas was coming for that spot. Plus 50 did the competition thing with how to rob.

I like subliminal disses.. I mean, you're retarded if you need to heard a name to understand who a diss like:
"nikkas mention of one love, came home to paper in hand
Ain't got to brag about the feds young man".

If you know the situation and it takes a lot more creativity and rhyme skills to be able to do it without mentioning the persons name.

If you really wanna battle, go and battle. nikkas recording tracks in studios thousands of miles from each other and posting them on twitter. Are they men, just cause they mention someones name? If they really about that battle shyt and wanna keep it hiphop, they should battle face to face.

You are still missing the point though. Who gives a fukk about beef/going back and forth if it doesnt make for good music

Dont have a short term memory- nikkas were saying names not even 7-8 years ago and the shyt got played out, leading to this Kumbaya era. I am hoping for a swing back to more aggressiveness, but with a return to quality as well. Garbage music is garbage music whether or not its friendly or confrontational, and Kendrick's whole verse was calling for QUALITY, not aggression. Theres a difference.

Where exactly was the diss? He said he wanted to be the best rapper basically. Where exactly is the diss. And lol@rappers meaning what they say. if these nikkas meant what they said. Wouldn't none of these nikkas be alive.
