Are we gonna address the elephant in the room when it comes to gentrification?

The real elephant is black people not actually owning their own communities. No ownership of houses, no businesses, nothing. That’s the real elephant.
Never forget. Real estate is the GOAT investment.

Nothing beats actually owning the roof covering your head.

It's pretty tough to actually buy a house nowadays though. :to:

This must be about up north. The gentrification issue down south is folks getting lowballed on their sale and property taxes increasing to the point of making it unaffordable for them to stay

How black people continue to run away from the same hoods to the suburbs many of them talk about need rebuilding..

I was talking to older black men at the barber shop and I said look down the street and tell me if u give each black family in those 20-30 homes on each block $200,000 each how many would automatically leave the neighborhood for white neighborhoods , instead of upgrading and owning that home and combine resources for a better neighborhood and our own quality strip malls… and they all said every blacks person would run far away to be next to whites…

One thing we do better than every other race… is we talk more than we do
Ok. But all it takes is a few knuckleheads shooting, breaking into homes and cars, and playing loud music to ruin a neighborhood. Folks throwing trash on the street, not maintaining their property, not planting flowers. If it was simply about living around whites, we’d move to the trailer parks. The higher income neighborhoods have better schools too. Folks have to want to do better, and money doesn’t automatically make you have better values. In fact, working for something makes you value it more. I pay taxes. I’m not going to walk right by trash on my lawn, and not pick it up. I even saw a cop get ice cream from a truck, and throw the napkin on the ground. He wouldn’t do that in his own neighborhood.
