Are we living in a dystopian future

I remember when we first reach the year 2000 and as a kid this is not what I imagine the future to be like. This sometimes feel like we're nearing a Distopian future, for example Donald fukking Trump is the president of America. Sometimes it feel like we're going backwards in terms of social and technological progress. When was the last time we had a new technology that revolutionize society? I imagine we would have a space colony by now.
